Official 330 Sundancer Thread

Anyways... I got my first boat Searay 320! I actually got it last week but it has been dry docked since I got it mechanically inspected/surveyed. I ended up with a 2006 model with about 700 hours. Every thing checked out and it just needed some maintainence nothing to crazy.

So I'm pretty excited. Boat is going in the water and this is genuinely all new for me. Never been on a boat like this in my life. I got the boat detailed and shes just ready to go. However I am a bit nervous about docking the boat but I have some experienced boaters that will be showing me the ropes over this next month. I have a feeling I will be on the boat quite a lot this month. I'm still in shock that I'm actually a boat owner. I never thought I would but its happened. I really dont know what to expect? I will be on here as I go asking questions and learning as much as I can.

I have a question. Where can i buy a "sunpad cushion" type of thing for the deck of the boat. Where u can lay it down and like sun tan on it? It goes in the middle of the Deck Bow. I been looking online but cant seem to find a official supplier. I have seen them on other boats. Anyways I'm trying to buy one.

Thanks!

While running in some big stuff over the weekend, I dropped the port trim tab. I have looked here to see if other 330 owners have had the same but have only seen upgrade discussion. Has anyone had this problem? Any insight into repair? What can I expect. I assume a 98 330 has the standard 18" x 9" tabs? Any thoughts would be helpful. I am hoping to make the repair and get back in the water as soon as possible. Thanks.

What does "dropped the port trim tab" mean? Did it fall off of the boat? Is it stuck in the down position and won't raise? Need a little more info. I agree the boat is under-tabbed, but the only issue I've had is I have to top off my hydraulic reservoir every couple of years.

Sorry if I was vague there, I meant that it came off the boat completely. Boat listed to port, we retrimmed the tabs and made it home but need a quick fix.

Thanks for your questions

That doesn't sound good at all. You may wish to take a hard look at your transom and make sure the wood in it is solid and not rotting.

Tim, sorry for the late reply. I removed the windlass assembly from the boat. Remove the 4 or so bolts that hold it down. Also will need to disconnect the wiring. Had to be a little of a contortionist but it can be done. When the windlass is off the boat, remove the motor cover and give it a good clean. Next time I have to do it, I will think to take some pic's and post them

Yesterday, while the Admiral was doing dishes she commented that the hot water wasn't getting hot and was barely luke warm.

Crap.

Other than the 6 gallon capacity, I don't know the make/model of the existing unit. Does anybody have any specific information on the water heaters we have in our boats?

Are there any user serviceable parts (i.e. heating element) that can be replaced. I may need to replace mine, if anybody has gone through the exercise, I'd love to hear about your experience.

Any and all help will be greatly appreciated.

Thanks.

The water heater is an attwood model. I believe the element is replaceable. If you remove the cover between the water inlets it is located right there. I had ours replaced in 2009. It was 6 hours of labor and 450 for the heater. It looks to be an absolute pain to replace it's located under the vacuum generator for the head. You will need to remove both batteries un screw the heater and slide it out. I don't know if there are screws on the outside if so you may have to take apart the vaccum generator to get to the outside of the unit. The element is an easier and much cheaper option!

Thanks Alegria. I found a replacement heating element on Amazon. The product description says it fits all Atwood Marine water heaters.

Hopefully this $27 solves my problem.

If not, they are about $300 now and an "easy" replacement. I believe the riser needs to be removed.

At 15 years old, it may be time to consider replacement. Even at 3-4 months of use up north, that's still 5 years of total use.

Just replaced mine last week with the attwood ss model ( 6 gal ) $345 on ebay. Did not have room for the 11 gal. It was a long job , the whole vacuflush system had to be removed as well as the riser. I also had to remove 1 battery to get to one of the water lines. Very doable , just take your time.

How many hours and what kind of replacement parts did you need for the parts that you had to remove? Things like new gaskets, stuff for the vacuflush, SS replacement bolts....etc....

Did you do anything else while you had the other stuff off the engine?

I would focus on the weight and factor in the fully loaded weight. The Sea Ray weights are "dry" and the addition of your "stuff" and fuel and water add a lot to the weight. your dry weigth is about 11,000lbs. Add say 1000 lbs for fuel plus another say 1000 lbs for water and stuff and you need a trailer will at least 13,000 lbs capacity. The LOA of the 95 330 is abot 36 feet. So based on your chart I would pick the one that is 36' - 38' ... 15000 lbs ... $5265

Thanks for the reply. I forgot to ask.. Does any one have approx hight of this boat on a trailer so I can start shopping for storage options. Thanks.

Thank you. Is this the boat only or are you figuring in approx trailer height?

Not trying to step on sr330daguy’s toes, but he is right, that quote is right from the owners manual, the boat only. Chances are, you will be over the 13’6” threshold, with boat on a trailer. Maybe, you can talk with the trailer people and get it as low in the cradle as possible.

Matt

I got that height ,with a shipping blue print of the boat I have from Sea Ray .I have it in PDF but don't know to post it. Shoot me a PM and I can email it to you guys.
