Um, you should probably know that the DRL bulbs used in GM vehicles are probably the exact same bulbs in just about every other brand of car on the road. I recently replaced one of mine (original) and as I recall it was a Sylvania bulb. I think this is probably just one of those "things" you notice and focus in on when on the road, kind of like it seems like for me, every single time I get behind someone going 8 miles an hour under the speed limit or cannot make up their mind on a parking space in a parking lot, it seems like there is a Toyota emblem on the back.
It's typically not the bulb which is the problem but the actual socket. Take a look at what is normally a white socket the next time you replace a bulb - it will most likely be dark brown or black from the heat and usually doesn't hold the bulb correctly.
I would say a complete lack of QA during the assembly process. My question to the Union folks is; do you think the Union will let those responsible be fired or do you think they will be protected? Not sure how these cars left the plant.
I have owned GM vehicles since I was sixteen, now seventy one. Have a new chevrolet and GMC in the garage now. I never had any major problems with any GM vehicle. The brake b\problem on the sonic could bee there was not a union lable on the brake pad , so the UAW worker would not install it.
Update: At least from what I have seen so far, after skimming several random articles written about this in the last 24 hours, so far it looks like they have found a grand total of (1) car affected since the problem was discovered last month. Apparently a "Sonic" that was part of a rental fleet was returned to a dealer after a complaint of brake noise. The technician found that one of the brake pads was missing which prompted this whole recall effort.

Many thread points are proven by that comment. MM
Yes, if it turns out to be accurate. I saw it in a couple articles but not all. Most stories have the "condensed" version of events. I assume more details will emerge once New Years wears off.The recall was prompted with a finding of a missing brake bad on ONE car? And it was a RENTAL??? That certainly changes the complexion of this case, does it not?
All so the "BIG CATS" get their money!! Oh but wait....... I'm sorry, they are "The Job Creators"................

Without doubt.
You look at most fortune 500 companies, and you will find that Mutal Funds control the bulk of the stock in most cases. And you wonder why most companies exhibit quarter-to-quarter thinking. . .

Mike,
When will you learn, these brain washed union goons willl never get it. Listening to some of these guys, you would think the National Anthem should be changed to "Look for the Union Lable" !!
