We the people must take the power back or nothing changes. First WE must stop thie give-aways of taxpayer money, but most folks I know want their pet projects or personal money. It is not just the poor getting EIC and millions in years of unemlpoyment, nor the corporations in special favors, but many of us want money spent on our favorites too. I just got an URGENT email from a friend, "CALL TODAY They are going to take away money for", this must be of life or death significance, "bike paths". Nothing against bike paths, I like bikes, but folks we are going broke doing this millions of times a year for everyones pet cause. It must start with us.

I would stop the popular election of senators and revert back to the intent of the framers of the constitution. The senate was originally intended to represent the interests of the states themselves as an entity not the people. That would put 100 mini-me junior presidents back where they belong serving the state that sent them not fund raising and campaigning. These were originally elected by the state house of repersenatatives and could be recalled by them if they failed to represent the state. This would remove power from Washington and put it back in the states.

I would stop the practise of gerrymandering and contorted districts where the net effect is the politicians choose their voters rather than the voters choosing their politicians. Since the advent of the PC, software has allowed block by block selection of voters by the politicians, these districts are negotiated by them. We must have fair and reasonable districts that offer competitive contests to claen up the system. In 08 only 54 of 435 house elections were competitive, in the turmoil of 10 only 87 were fought out for the voters. Most were anointed by someone. I seem to remember a stat that 90% wanted wholesale changes in congress. Why cant we get that? Because 65% were voting for their current congress repersenative, they liked that one, they didn't like the rest. And therein lies the issues we face to clean up Washington's power, they took this power over the years with ever expansive interpretations of the Commerce Clause.

I said it once before and I'll say it again. If you take anything and I do mean anything (SS, Food Stamps, Unemployment, EIC, pet projects, etc) you lose your right to vote. IMHO, Nobody is going to vote to stop getting funds.

All this is depressing... You can tell when we put our boats away... What we need is more time on the boat with friends, warm weather, and good food... Its going to be a long winter... Who want to join the the Occupy Miami Beach? One of our demands can be free fuel for our boats...

So I see the list of their demands but what are their solutions? How do they plan to achieve these lofty goals? I can wish for 70 virgins to do my bidding till the cows come home but, according to that faith, until I die a martyrs death for Islam it aint gonna happen now is it .
I can climb a clock tower and reduce the population of a city but what does it accomplish?

I'm butt tired of folks pounding on their chest about all the injustice in the world then sitting on their hands when asked for a solution. Here's an FYI, if you can contribute to the solution then shut up or support someone that can.

Why do cities need to negotiate for people to leave an area when they are openly defying the law? Bring in the guard and lock every one of the law breakers up. My compassion stops where their stupidity starts. Tie up a port or restrict free trade then go to jail. I guess no one cares about the poor schmuck working the dock for a living or the truck driver that supporting a family that misses work because of these law breakers. They must be in the upper 1% that everyone is touting.

Everyone is asking for input for a solution so here's mine. Know your elected officials. I don't mean just their names but who they are, where they worship, what's their wife and children’s names. What's their principles aside from their party line? Make them accountable for their actions. My rep is a democrat, I'm not. He knows where I stand and if I don't vote for him or do he knows why. We are friends BTW but that does not jade my principles or his.
It's just the first steps but at least I'm in the game. Are you?

BTW it's IMHO. (The catch all that makes everything right)
