I was meeting with a client at a somewhat liberal non proffit in D.C. today. After the meeting I wished the client happy Thanksgiving. She told me she was offended I would say that to her and said happy holidays is what I should say instead. I asked what she found offensive about saying that and she told me there are people of other faith and from other countries in the office and she doesn't want them to feel uncomfortable. I wanted to say some things but business is slow and I need the job. I really don't want to do business with someone so out of touch that they put the feelings of her international staff above pride in her country. I have noticed nobody in the corporate world want's to mutter happy thanksgiving lately. If I hear one more person say happy holidays I might puke. Thanksgiving is a national holiday and it is not a religious holiday. I consider this woman to be un American. Political correctness is getting worse in my opinion. The demands of the entitlement crowd and those who are so easily offended by anything that doesn't fall into their twisted view of our government are gaining mainstream support. I will continue offending these Liberal fools because the day it's not ok to say Happy Thanksgiving is the day I head for the hills.

Nothing!....said it about 50 times today, Mike.

I'm having an investor reception at my house next week for my company... complete with a Christmas tree and a decked out Christmas house. If any of the employees don't like it, they can get a new job or invest in a different company. How's that for some holiday spirit!!!

When anyone says "Happy holidays" to me I say "Oh, Which holiday?" When they (usually shamefully) say "Christmas". I say "Merry Christmas to you too!"

I know what you mean about retaining business, but enough is enough. Even being polite & respectfull has gone out of style. I probably would not loose a big client over it but for the smaller ones I'll blow them off & go out & hussle up another, more sane minded one. I have no room for rude, ignorant or fashionable people in my life.

Happy Thanksgiving everyone!

Every year I send out several hundred "Holiday" cards to my clients. Over the years I have looked for more and more secular cards falling into their trap. This year I said enough. We are only sending Christmas Cards this year.

I will let you know if there is any fallout, but I doubt there will be.

Ken

Well the only thing wrong with it is you're about a month and a half too late :)

Very, very tired of it. I have no patience left for these type of ****ing idiots.

I am employed by a global company and most from outside the US wish me and my colleagues a Happy Thanksgiving and Merry Christmas. It's a complement from them to us to recognize our heritage. Much like I wish them a happy whatever it is they are celebrating. It's the US citizen who believes he is speaking for the world when they should shut up. They in fact offend the global countries as now they don't know how to address the holiday season. My global colleagues fear that they will now offend us by not saying the correct salutation.
It’s in this nature that I attach this link.

Happy Thanksgiving and Merry Christmas to my SeaRay friends.

Indeed, to my fellow Americans, CSR members and anyone else who cares to join in....Happy Thanksgiving!

I worked for years at a company that was 100% Third Generation Jewish owned and managed (two families). These people made sure that a massive Christmas party was held each year. They always attended and stayed the entire night. They only recognized legal holidays, so nobody had Hanukkah off, not that anyone would have cared either way. Everything I learned about business was learned from these men and I admire them to this day. The HR Director insisted that the party be changed the the annual "Holiday party". They told her "It's Christmas; don't be stupid". We always had a good laugh at that.

As far as Thanksgiving, nobody ever said you had to bring religion into being thankful for a good year, a good harvest, your health, your family, etc.

I for one am sick and tired of the 5 or 6 people who have a problem with origin of holidays that really didn't take them into account in the first place, yet eagerly accept the paid time off. If you have a problem with it, then work that day and donate your pay to some tree humping bark chewer society.

Well, I will now and Continue to wish people well on Thanksgiving... I may be a top level scrooge but I will still wish people a merry Christmas... We Need People to be thankful for what that have and who we are not stand back and point fingers...

+1 for all of the above post and Happy Thanksgiving and may you and your familes be able to celebrate a Merry Christmas forth coming way to fast in the stores. Any bussiness that thinks it has to open for what ever _lack day they want to call it for other than emergency purposes should be avoided at all cost.

Happy Thanksgiving to all!! I won't change my American traditions for anyone, and for those who don't like it....too bad....Its America!!!

One more thing that may offend....GOD Bless America!!!

Today I wish everyone here a safe and Happy Thanksgiving. Starting Friday, I will be telling folks Merry Christmas. And it is CHRISTMAS!!! I personally get offended when people write
X-Mas, as the holiday is a celebration of Christ. If you are too lazy to type Christ, then I don't know what to tell you. Maybe for brevity, you can just type Merry Christ-X.

Xmas was not used to be disrespectful and it's nothing new. Personally I spell it out because I think it looks better but have used Xmas to save space.

As far as saying Happy Holidays for either Christmas or Thanksgiving is complete nonsense. If anyone ever called me down on it they'd be guaranteed an earful.

I read the original post and I have to say what offends me is that "liberals" are always judged as a group by conservative folks.

I'm the most liberal person I know and I say Merry Christmas NOT happy holidays.

I also own guns, I own a business, I drive a 4x4 V-8 American made pick-up and I always stand up, take off my hat and put my right hand over my heart when the national anthem is played...... oh, and I'm a member of the Southern Baptist Church too. :wow:

Everything you guys rail on liberals about is total bull crap in my case and for almost every liberal I know too. In fact the ONLY time I ever got chastised for saying "Merry Christmas" was by a nit-wit, thin skinned jehovah witness (who by the way had a "Bush '04" sticker on his damn crappy old toyota).

I don't think all conservatives are closet homosexuals, hooked on Oxycontin or unfaithful to their wife, so why must you always paint all liberals with a broad brush of bull****?

Does it kill your buzz when you realize your really not any different than me

All that aside, Happy Thanksgiving  I hope and pray the best for you an your families on this special day.

Happy Thanksgiving to you! After reading that, now I KNOW you're a confused closet red neck!
