260 Sundancer Thread.........Comments questions and answers

Does anyone have the optional sun pad filler cushion where the back table goes and if they do is it worth 400 dollars?

I looked into getting the sun pad when I first bought my boat. This option consists of a teak table (which when lowered acts as a base for the sun pad) along with some posts and the pad itself. Back in 2006 the dealer wanted over $1000 for all the components so I'd say at $400 you are getting a good buy. Just make sure all the components you need to use it are included. I can give you all the part numbers and descriptions if that will be of help.

Please post the part list, Dave. I was thinking about buying or building one, but haven't been able to locate any information.

These were the parts I was told to get the components needed to support the rear sun pad:

1819912 Teak Table
992495 11.75" Table Leg
162383 Table Post 2.25" x 27.25"
876979 Base,Leg/Post
For the actual Sun Pad Itself, unfortunately I don't have the part number

From what I remember the above items are apparently what you need to use the teak table by itself (as a table) as well as put it into a lowered position to support the Sun Pad. The Teak Table was $435 and the Sun Pad by itself was $500 (back in 2006).

I vaguely remember one of the CSR members had this option and also had a picture of it. I don't know if you could find it by doing a search or not.

I thought the 06 had a lip on the rear seat that the sunpad rested on and no table or pole was needed. That is the design of a friend of mines 06.

Pole and table are needed. I have pics but don't have time to resize and format. PM me with your email if you need them right away.

I have the teak table so i guess i'm almost 1/2 way there then. I've been having hard time finding a shorter pole that has the tapered ends on both ends. Every pole i find has different sort of locking things on each end to lock into a plate.

As for the table pole lengths, the cabin table and cockpit table have the same length poles.

Can anyone help me understand the head system? In the head I have the dislplay and key. Does the power need to be on all the time and when would discharge be used?

Thanks,
Mike

Just purchased an -06 260 DA as an upgrade from our smaller 20' daycruiser. Absolutely love it.

As a freshman on this boat though, I can't seem to reach the speeds you seem to reach on yours. Mine have the 6.2l 320 HP Mercruiser, the large generator, AC, windlass and TV. Took it for a test run today in calm conditions and at 3750 RPM I get around 23 knots (GPS) on it. Comsumption around 14,5 gph. At around 3600 RPM I get just under 20 knots and around 13 gph. At WOT I max out at around 32 knots and 4800 RPM.

Are these figures normal for this engine / boat ? I have seen most posts cover either the 350 or the 496 block, so any thoughts on the 6.2l engine would be much appreciated.

/K

I can top out around 38MPH with my 350 MAG at GPS measured speeds. You should be right around or slightly over 40MPH with the 6.2. 32 Knots is about 37 mph so it sounds like you may be able to get more speed out of it. RPMs are about right at 4800 so maybe it was due to weight load in the boat or a dirty bottom. Have you tried trimming your outdrive up? On mine I have to trim mine all the way up to the first detent to get it to run at peak speed.

Before you panic check your prop pitch. Sounds like you have a 15-17 pitch at those speeds. I have the 5.7 and at 3800 rpm I am between 27-30 knots depending on wind & current. At WOT, I am between 38-40. With low fuel, no water, and just me in the slick lake, I have hit 45mph. It is possible somebody put a low pitch prop in for heavy seas, it helps you plow through a lot better. I think most 260's come with a 20 pitch which sounds like what Dave has.

I have a 260 Sundancer from 2003 It's called 275 due to the extended swimplatform.
It's mounted with the original spoiler.
Can anybody tell me the total height of the boat?
(from keel to top-spoiler)

The 275 designation is not due to the swim platform, rather the sale of the boat outside the US. The international designation for the 260DA at that time was 275DA. According to the owner's manual you have a height from keel to top of windscreen of 2.41 meters. You could then just measure and add to it the height from top of windscreen to top of arch. The manual does not show the boat dimensions with the arch on it.

Thanks a lot, Chuck and Hellman.
I will combine your answers, and add the measured height of the spoiler to the given measurement :)

Thanks Dave S, I've trimmed it up fully when doing these checks so it runs light in the water. Did these with the tank half full and almost empty water and waste tank. One thing regarding the trim that puzzels me a bit though. Had a 19' Bayliner with the Mercruiser Alpha one drive before this one. The range for the trim felt 'longer' on that one. On the SeaRay it's more or less just a few quick taps on the trim button and then it's fully trimmed out. Is this by design?

Thanks, I'll check that one out as well. For a rookie on the prop pitch part, more pitch means more speed unless you step past what the engine torque can handle? If I rpm out properly at WOT at around 4800 pitch should be good, right?

Wouldn't a low pitch prop result in a higher WOT rpm than this, or how does these things work?

Hi, the Sylvania microwave on my 2007 Sundancer 260 is missing the plastic carousel which makes the glass plate rotate. With this missing I cannot use the microwave. I have tried emailing Sylvania but they never return my emails, and I've emailed SeaRay with no response either. Can anyone suggest where I might get one of these please. I have just about exhausted all avenues of sourcing one and it is rather frustrating.

Have you checked with a good dealer? I found not all dealers are as good as others about hard to get items. And try calling a responsive appliance repair service. MM

You might try contacting these folks............ http://microwaveglasstrays.com/shop/-c-44.html

Even though they don't show Sylvania turntables maybe one of the ones shown will work or possibly they can tell you where to get one or source one for you. The other choice is to replace your entire Microwave. I doubt that would cost much more than $100.

Good day all.

I am currently looking at a 2011 260 Sundancer with a 350 MAG and Bravo III. It seems to have been ordered without the windlass, and transom shower, or GPS/Chartplotter. Why? I have no idea. I sea trialed the boat and it seemed a little under powered and difficult to trim. Has anyone else noticed this? Is it just me and I'm not used to the tallness of the cruiser? Or is this boat just a pig with this engine combo?

Jester....
