Gadhafi to burn Libya oil fields, Suez Canal could be closed, Saudis are scared. This will drive our gas to $10 a gallon.

I always said if I could not afford to run the boat, I could enjoy sitting at the dock. I thought I could watch TV, surf the net, read a book, fish, or just drink.

Sounds like a plan, right. Wrong.

Can't watch my boat TV, It is not digital and the converter box broke.Wallmart stop selling converter boxes.
Can't go on line, marina does not have cable or wifi.
Can't rent a movie, the local Blockbuster is closing this week.
Can't buy a book, Borders is bankrupt.
Can't fish, State of Maryland might not open Rock fish season this spring.
Can't drink, State or Maryland is raising tax on booze.

What are you going to do?

That is a baaad way to start an afternoon.

Jeez man, if I ever get that pessimistic, I'll go on medication!

- buy a new TV already!
- get mobile broadband
- get an ereader
- Netflix is better than Blockbuster ever was
- brew your own

What a Debbie Downer thread.

I'm glad I'm on a lake and my kids are ecstatic to go for small tube rides and sit on the hook all day and just swim, eat and play. Regardless, I'm on the lake this year. Period.

Now back to your regularly scheduled happiness. Find it.

Lot of people spend their Fridays and Saturdays nights in the bar. I will save my funds for boat gas.

Sorry, I'm usually not pessimistic.

But I listened to Glenn Beck this morning, then saw the Baltimore news at noon. And there is snow back on the ground.

Yes, it is time to throw away the 8 tracks and enter the 21st century.

A brave new world.

I live on Long Island and CableVision is my Internet, phone and TV provider. They offer free WiFi hotspots for their subscribers and I just checked their hotspot map.

My marina is in their hotspot (actually the only area around for miles:thumbsup:)

Therefore, I will sit at the marina, drink,, smoke cigars, BBQ, setup a garden hose and sprinkler for the kids, take the boat out for an occasional ride, and use the WiFi with NetFlix (I will catch up on all the old seasons of "Weeds")

Oh! did I mention Drink?

I am going to get my gun out and defend myself against the rioters. :smt013 :smt100

Our country cannot sustain that price, if you think unemployment is high now...? :smt101

Of course it might get rid of illegal aliens..err undocumented immigrants? :wow:

(undocumented immigrants my Prep H hole...Illegal is illegal... Illegal aliens)

I will pay $10 gallon and ride.

Ditto. I might spend more time on the hook but I already have the slip paid for the year.....she's going in the water. What the heck, it's only one summer out of the rest of my life. In the end I would likely to regret NOT using it vs. paying $10/gallon.

I need directions to the party.

The world can't sustain that price which why it will never get that high. How high were gas prices when Sadam burned the wells in Kuwait? The affect was nominal.....

Chicken Little's...........

I think the kids would miss their tubing but other than that the boat would get used! I guess I'm lucky in that I don't have to cruise far to get to our hang out spots.

Pay it if I want to go somewhere. Don't drink, never smoked, pay to get direct TV. Keep the 9MM out. Use the WiFi

Country is in trouble Mike

We're goin' boatin' no matter what the price of gas...now, I may go a little slower and not take people on a tour of the lake at 30 mph, but come hell or high water, we're going to be there. Life's too short...

I'm going to do the American thing and support all the boating businesses I can. I may need to get a shed to store Old Skool in to keep the transportation cost down but I plan on boating just as much as last year. Admiral already wanting me to unwrap and start spring cleaning and repairs.:thumbsup::thumbsup:
Love that women.

We'll just figure it out, but I highly doubt we'll see prices that high. Come off the edge man.
