Month Long Cruise PCB - Key West - 340

I just made that first picture my desk top background. That is a GREAT picture. I have to do that trip now! Thanks for the beautifull Pictures. Glad you are back safe and sound. Looking forward to the " Rest of the Story". JC

The Tortugas is the best place ever!! I did have an engine failure about 10 miles from the harbor; so much for all the maintenance I did on engines/boat. Even that could not ruin the trip. We had to be towed back to Key West at 8mph; which took about 9 or so hours. With no claims and being a member for so long; Tow Boat U.S. covered the entire tow bill 100%. The storm that blew through the harbor was pretty bad. My wife and I fended off boats for about 3 hours. Good news is there was no damage. Rented a car and drove to Homestead to retrieve my truck and trailer. Probably will load up and head back to Tarpon Springs in a few days and commence with changing an engine. At least I will have two new engines in the boat. Will probably take the zodiac out for a few rides. This is the best trip EVER! Will update later.

Kevin is one of the greatest guys I have ever met. He's smart, well spoken, easy to talk to, and has a very positive attitude. I likely would have not met him had we not been on this site (even though it turns out we work for the same company). He and his wife, Nicole, were great friends to have along on the trip, along with our other new friends, Nelson and Jeannie.

Can't do better than having a great trip with friends and family!!!

How about posting some more photos and videos.. You owe us at least 2-3 days worth :)

Thanks for sharing the trip with all of us...

Barry

Did I mention that Kevin is moon-lighting as a suicide bomber?

After going to the Dry Tortugas and back at cruise speeds, 2 nights on the hook with genny, checking out the Marquesas and Woman Key, heading out to Sand Key, back to Sigsbee NAS, I had 44 gallons of gas in my tanks. To get that, I added 30 gallons from that which we carried along. 25 to stbd and 5 to port. Had I added zero gas, we would have been short .2 gallons on the starboard side and had 14 left over in the port side.

PS: We used 16 gallons in the genny.

He does look like the unibomber! Damn good thing you turned your boat into a floating bomb before you left! It would really suck to run out of fuel 5 or 10 miles out...

The first night in Key West, I took my lovely wife out for Sushi and Thai (interesting combo). The next day, we met Kevin and Nicole, got the boats ready, then went out for appetizers and a nice sunset.

I love these pictures John.

Please post some more when you get a chance.

Awesome pics. The one of your boat with the plane in the background - you should get that blown up for your house. Awesome!

So, we begin to leave the marina, top of with gas, get our boats lined up, and head out. Kevin led because he did the most planning, I was next, and Nelson followed up in the sedan bridge.
