I just recently purchased a house as part of an estate sale and was thrilled/dismayed when I found a Sea Ray 700 in my new garage. The windows were blocked and the doors locked on the garage so it was quite a shock.
Now here's the dilemma. I live near"ish" the water and would love to have a boat, but frankly, I'm a car guy. I restore old VWs and really need the garage space for those projects. I'm a younger guy and don't have the time or money to really restore the boat properly. However because I AM in the auto restoration hobby I know what a worthy project can become in the right hands.
So here are some photos of the boat as it sits now. I used some rubbing compound on the port bow as you can see the bright white area there, and it shined up very nicely. Little bit of elbow grease and the hull would be ready to go. Mechanically it seems like everything is there. Throttle, steering, etc all seem to work based on my knowledge. Electrical is an unknown, but all the wiring is there that I can see. The interior is just flat out missing. No seats, nothing. Structurally everything seems sorted. No holes, cracks, or weak spots.
What would be the value of something like this? It's a gorgeous classic boat with lovely lines, but obviously not in great condition by any stretch of the imagination.
I'd love to refinish the boat myself and I know I could do a bang-up job on it, but I frankly don't have the time, money, or energy for another project. Let alone the space...
