Official 280 Sundancer Thread

the head sprayer on mine is good. Actually everything is good except the transom sprayer. I've worked out the kinks but I've only got about a 3' shoot.

My cockpit/bar shower head is the strongest. The transom and head are ok but i wish they were stronger. Also, you can hook up a hose in the locker on the aft, and I get good pressure from that as well. Mine 280 has the water heater too.

I wish the cockpit line was about 3 feet longer so that it would reach down into the cabin door track to facilitate easier cleaning. As far as strength, same as others with aft shower weakest. BTW, I bypassed my water heater -- it made little difference in the pressure at any given head.

Hello everyone, I'm new here and glad I joined! I have read through previous posts and have learned a few things. I'm wondering if anyone has had any luck with satellite TV antenna's such as the Sea-King 9815 RJ or TracVision M-1. I'm seriously considering one and would love to hear from anyone who has something similar....

Re: Transom Shower Water Pressure

You might want to check the strainer which is located on the intake side of the water pump, which is mounted on top of the water heater (port/stern in the engine compartment)...there is a quick disconnect (1/4 turn counterclock) and the screen/strainer is right there. If you need to do a thourough clean the strainer housing unscrews very easily. After cleaning ours the water pressure is just like home......
Good Luck

My transom sprayer head was very weak when we bought the boat. I took it apart and found the hole in the sprayer head had a plastic "flap" that appears to be left over from when the hole was drilled. I took a drill bit and cleaned it out. It now has decent pressure but nowhere near the rest of my faucets.

That's exactly what the MM tech did yesterday....though it didn't help.

Good call, I'll check the strainer.

Welcome aboard. As all newbie's soon learn - do a search first. Usually there are already lots of threads. Try searching by "Tracvision", "Sea King", or "satellite tv".

Also, this is the Sea Ray 280 thread, but your question isn't really specific to the 280. If you didn't find your answer via searching and need to ask a question, there will be a lot more viewers in the "Electronics Q&A" section.

Hope this helps..

trim down, anchor up

It just started where when I try to plane out it will only reach 2800 RPM max! It just sounds sluggish almost feels as if it were overloaded or dragging something. If I put it in neutral and disengage the prop I can get it as high as I want so to speak. I trailer trimmed up and felt for something wrapped around prop but couldnt find anything (keep in mind its dark out and I just got here this evening). I am going to get in the water and check again tomorrow. Any suggestions or help greatly appreciated!

Hi all - just took delivery of a brand new 2009 280 last weekend...will post some pics soon! There's a lot of great information on this forum...thank you all!

Quick question - how do I setup the v-berth bed? Is there suppposed to be a support beam under the dinnette table that is placed on the ridges?

Nope. On the forward V birth and on the port dinette, when you turn it into a birth the table just sits there. A cushion then goes over it. At least this is how it works in our 2003 280 DA.

Do you plan to sleep onboard often? We do. 35 nights last season, it’s early June and we have 9 nights so far this season.

Unless you back is better than mine, you may want to get a memory foam topper. I got one at Walmart or a king beg then cut it to fit then put a sheet over it.

For the first year we kept the pole onboard to convert the forward birth back into a dinette. Then I went thru the boat and looked at everything that was not fastened asking myself if it was a safety item of if we had used it. If the answer to both was no, off it went to be stored at home. The pole for the forward dinette was one of the removed items. We keep it made up as a v-birth and keep a couple of duffel bags stored in the opening below the table.

I suggest you start your own thread for this. My first question would be, are you getting any alarms beeping? Is your boat full of bottom growth? Again, please do this in a new thread. You will likely get a lot more feedback.

Hey Guys... This is probably a stupid question but... how the hell do I turn on the water system pump? I have a 2005 280DA. I read the owners manual (didn't see anything on switch) and played w/ some of the switches next to the aft cabin. Any ideas?

Thanks.

Common question. The little box with squiggly line on the starboard helm control pad.

AHHHHH... That's what that does!! haha Thanks Gerry

It's really obvious, isn't it? I think a water bucket, a spigot, a toilet, waves, any other symbol would have made sense. But yes, a box with squiggly lines and arrows -- that makes perfect sense.

hahaha, sure is. The thing that kills me, it isn't even in the owners manual (at least i don't think so)

In case your curious

Check out page 12. Its shows the pic of the helm and that damn button isn't even there.

I asked this question earlier, but there was no response, so I'll ask again....how do you guys tell the amount of water in your fresh water tank....Obviously when it spills out the fill tube its full and when it stops coming out any spigot its empty. Are there any guages like on the waste tank? Thanks for the help.

Nope, no guage for the fresh water tank in the 280 Sundancer.

Since your tank is insulated it makes it even harder. At least I can open the engine hatch and look at the tank and see how much is left.
