460 DA Owners Thread

I thought about adding a second MFD below the existing one. Would be tricky since the surface of the dash isn’t level across these two panels. But I think I could build it up by layering in dash panels where needed. Anyone have dual displays? Curious if you really use both? Map on one and night vision camera on the other maybe?
Do you have AIS "in" on the new VHF? If not, maybe a second VHF with that feature showing on your MFD. You could see commercial traffic around the bend and know which they were traveling.

I have a fusion 770 just outside of the picture beside the sliding door. I put a remote station for it at the helm. You can see it in the pic just to the right of the throttles. So I’m covered there.
That alarm isn’t a bad idea but I’m pretty sure there’s already alarms for raw water temp in the sea ray system monitor.
The only alarms I recall on the system monitor was for engine coolant temp. You can have no raw water for a bit before that alarm goes off. If you put a Borel just downstream of the shower you will get an alarm before the engine overheats. Highly recommend.

Ah! Haven’t thought about that. I’ve had the monitor give me a temp alarm on the gen a couple years ago when the impeller went out. I assumed that was from water temp but guess it was engine temp. Might just have to get one now. Thanks

Yeah that was the main reason for the new VHF. Tied in well with the MFD to give me AIS in and out. And added a remote speaker for it on the arch right by my right ear so I can hear it over the stereo.

The dash changed before the 2002 model year. It became one flat surface and easy to mount two screens.
Note the Raymarine Clear Cruise in the upper split screen. Input requires AR200, AIS on your VHF and a networked forward-facing camera.

Sure do! I usually have my chart on the big one and then diagnostics on one and sonar on the other. I have 3 backup cameras wired in as well, so each screen shows a different view when I want them on while docking.

Anyone know what size screws fit our captains seat pedestal thing? I believe it has 4 mounting screws and not sure how but 2 of mine are gone.

Also, does this pedestal have a replacement shock? I'm asking because mine doesn't move up and down like it should. thanks!

That’s what I’m thinking but I have a 01. Have to get creative to level out the surface. That looks great!

Take one of the remaining screws out and go to a hardware store to buy four replacements for the ones you will lose during the replacement. There is a post in this or one of the SR forums about the shock - it is no longer available, but the post had suggestions - I didn't keep the thread.

I had contacted Garelick because mine doesn't raise and lower either - the installation / owners manual is attached. It may be of some help.

If you figure it out, please let me know - it wasn't enough of a priority for me so I opted for a pillow for the raise function instead!.

That's the problem... there are no left over screws. If I had a screw, I would have removed it and gone to the store. Thanks!

My punch list for spring was a long one.

On the list was bottom paint, cut/buff, and have all the small fiberglass whiskey, bruises repaired.

Where we boat the shops that do the work are 100 miles down lake.

Cost for bottom paint would have been 16k all in . That would be fuel to move the boat , haul out and block, flights to and from our end of the lake and then the bottom job.On top of that we wouldn't have the boat back in until end of June.

I have a semi, trailer, and jacks so we did it at our end.

Pulling the boat , pressure washing, sanding, repaired six blisters, two coats of epoxy, two coats of the top black coat. I am in it 2,500.
Took three of us four ten hour days, two half gallons of fireball ,vodka , case of beer start to finish and that included pulling the boat and blocking it and lots of ibuprofen.

We are in a very remote part of Utah and you have zero supply stores so you have to plan to have lots of everything to get the job done as if you forget one thing it can stall the job until you return the next time. The boat is 4 fours away from home.

Feels good to have it done and know that it’s done correct.

Also pulled the water line stripe. I decided not to put a new one on . I like the clean look.
Had the fiberglass guy down and my guy who buffs both turned out amazing.

Just have my aftercoolers to do and put the swim deck back on and some small little projects and she is ready to go back in 2nd week of May. I will missed my launch date by one week.

I used Pettit epoxy high build and then Pettit 75 black. Great products.

I also had the swim deck color changed to black as I get tired of cleaning and seeing diesel soot. I have mix feeling on changing it to black. It does look good as we have the tan plasdeck on it we will see how it looks back on the boat.

Looks great! That's a lot of work...
Thanks .
It is rewarding to do it and good to know it was done right. When we bought the boat seven years ago we had a shop do it and they used the right epoxy however from the looks of it they use cheap black coat and only did one coat.

Thought I would post this.

I usually start my punch list in November and have it done by February of the coming year. About four to Five months to get everything completed. I like starting the season with everything done and enjoy the coming season with nothing on my mind to get done.

We had a busy winter and we didn't start the punch list until the 4th week of March and put the boat back in the water last weekend.

Keep in mind our boat is four hours away " one way" and there are zero supply stores when we are there so lots of planning has to go into it. We stayed on the boat the whole time while it was blocked in the yard.

I have a 6x12 cargo trailer that became a mobile shop and supply house. Others in the yard actually bought stuff from me as they needed and if I had it to spare or borrowed tools. We also took our 18 ft enclosed trailer and left it there with our side by side so we could get some riding in when we needed a break from the work on the boat.

There was more that we did then what is on the list.

We did everything on the list ourselfs other than the fiberglass repair, cut/buff, and upholstery.

My Girlfriend is amazing and she never is one to shy away from getting her hands dirty and she did more than I could even list to get this punch list done. I would not own this boat without her! On top of that her son was a huge help as well.

Feels good to have it all done and in a @#$%!& way it is therapy for me to work on the boat.
Oh and on top of it all not one argument or pissed off moment at each other. That is when you know you have the right partner for life!

We made the most of boating in the dirt but it is sweet to be back on the water!
