Should you buy a gun or not?

Yep. I am very aware of the laws. I just choose to support other locations if there are signs posted.

Signs do not carry the weight of law in every state and in some that do (Missouri) they can only ask you to leave...

Same with PA. My understanding is Ohio is different. Private business signs hold the weight of the law from what I was told. So being close to the border I leave mine in the truck when I go in a place with signage. PA is a different story
There are two types of signage in Ohio, those listed in the ORC such prisons, court houses, airports, etc are a felony no go.

Signs on private businesses have the "knowingly" standard (verses, "negligently" or "recklessly") burden of proof. So, if you are in a business that is posted and they see your gun, they will ask you to leave. Refusal results in a trespassing charge, an M1.

In MO, there are two types of carry. Constitutional carry, which requires nothing, and CCW which requires the course. If you carry into a prohibited establishment (ie, hospital, school, bank, etc.), CC can face legal punishment. If you carry into a prohibited establishment, CCW is only asked to leave with no legal punishment unless you refuse.

Yeah I didn't specify certain buildings like court houses. I was referring more to malls, restaurants, etc. I have never seen Ohio laws on this but going by what was relayed to me by an Ohio police officer. If the mall states no firearms then you can be prosecuted? Or maybe this is only with an out of state CCW (I'm in PA). So if I am carrying and go to Ohio my gun stays in my vehicle if I go in somewhere that has signage prohibiting firearms.
FWIW I have been in PA courthouses while carrying but as a law enforcement officer I was authorized and was directed to walk around the metal detector.

Woody, I hope you weren't calling me a meathead? I like you too much to get in an internet battle with you...lol

Let me try to clarify the second paragraph of my initial response.

Private businesses can post a "No CCW Sign". If you are carrying, see the sign before you enter, knowingly disregard that sign and enter the business, then if the business sees that you are carrying they then call the cops. The cops will ask you if you saw the sign, if you say yes, you get arrested and charged with an M1. If you say no, i didn't see the sign, they ask you to leave. If you leave, no problem. If you refuse to leave, you get a trespassing charge, also an M1.

Personally, I never go looking for signs. If I'm spotted, I'll happily leave. No harm, No foul. I have this amazing ability to ignore all of the visual noise on a door and look around it to see what is going on inside of the building. Would hate to be that guy that walked in on an armed robbery.

That make sense. Nope, didn't see the sign officer. But I'm not one to push limits so will refrain from carrying in those places when in Ohio

All this is state specific. In indiana they don't carry the weight of law. They can ask you to leave (for any reason) and if you don't you can be trespassed. Simple as that, unless you're in a state where no gun signs carry the weight of law...

OK....Why do you think I have to ask you twice not to be packin' when you come into my strip club? Don't play stupid with 'I didn't see the sign', you could see and read good enough to figure out it was a strip club.

You were told once(the sign) before you came in, why do I have to tell you again? Why do I have to listen to you tell me my sign doesn't have the force of law...you don't understand, at Woody's club I am 'The Law'....now get the fuck outa here ya' meathead.;)

Mine is always ready to fire and neither have a safety. I just think it's bad practice to leave the chamber empty. Suppose you are under attack and one arm is being restrained or worse?

I agree with the first point, but disagree on the second. You can rack a slide single handed if you practice by snagging the rear sight on the holster, belt or belt buckle, etc and just push away. If you have a red dot mounted it’s even easier, there’s enough to jamb against your body. These are basic defensive skills for dealing with an incapacitated hand or arm.

So we were in Minneapolis a couple of months ago. Our Uber driver was a Sudanese lost boy as a child (child soldier) He warned us to get out of his car and go straight in to the restaurant where we were having dinner. No loitering outside. He said even he was scared to be out downtown in Minneapolis. I have attached a link to his webpage so you can read about him. Amazing guy. https://www.kfai.org/minneculture-driven-by-hope-paul-deng-kur-and-the-story-of-a-lost-boy/

I will disagree with that all day long. I even ordered mine without the safety.

Read it again.

Thats what I read first!

But I still disagree with what you are saying. When seconds count, do you really hope you snag your rear sight on your belt?
