Official 1998 Sea Ray Sundancer 290 Thread

It’s been super quiet in here. Everyone getting ready for the season yet or hunkering down with gas prices losing their collective minds?! Handled a project at the dock yesterday and got our dock box mounted in place… built a platform to get on and off the boat a lot more safely. Boat is running like a champ.. but may need to update the battery minder… this old unit seems to boil the batteries… another day. LOL

Hey SO! Did you get your table rack figured out? Here’s a couple pics of mine.

The Queen and I are ready, everything is back on at the marina, going to pickup a low powered pressure washer for the hull. Just haven’t been feeling that great and for me it’s too cold still. Here’s what I replaced my battery charger with and haven’t looked back.

I have been using the Electric Ryobi 1800psi 1.2GPM pressure washer for a couple years. It is perfect, quiet, reliable, and has enough power without fear of blasting a hole in your hull. I highly recommend it for using on, and around the boat and household.. great little washer that you can easily carry to and from wherever you need it too.

Hey All, bought the Queen a new kayak, it’s 10Lx3Wx14”D. Anyone have a rack recommendation? We just need to keep it up on the boat. She will mostly use it around the marina and maybe when we start doing over nights on the hook.

Thanks as always, Jon
I’m going to post this on the other 290 Thread as well so sorry for the redundancy.

Hey GG! Flip them over and ratchet strap them to the bow. They ride great up there.

I just ordered this yesterday.

We have the small corded blower for use around the pool, it’s lasted 8 years and still going strong so figured the PW should be ok. Ordered the soap spray bottle as well. Some reviews say the hose and nozzle connections leak. Could just be a case of not RTFM, I’ll probably switch them out to quick disconnects. Comes with a 2 year warranty from E-Bay Square Trade so I think I’ll be ok. Less than 10 pounds to for the old guy. I’ll post some before and after pictures when it gets here.

New rod holders arrived. Will need to cut them into the boat this week for the new grill.. the grill mount hasn’t arrived yet.. so there is that. Anyone install rod holders across the transom have any input as to how close I can be to the water valves etc in the transom trunk on the starboard side?

Hey Buddy, saw this while I was driving and couldn’t reply. When my shore power connection failed and super electrician repaired it I saw that the water connections come up out of the ER if that helps. Same on the port side for the swim platform shower. Nasty day today eh?

Did you get straight ones or angle ones. I put angled ones there. I can measure tomorrow
Got the angled ones. Need them for the new grill mount that arrives today. BTW… I found these rod holders on Amazon.. they are gorgeous and built with a full weld and look like they should cost way more than they did.. super impressed when they arrived.

Yeah that rain was crazy… hitting the water today though and will open the engine room up to look at the water connections while out there. Found a few pics on the Sea Ray 290 page on Facebook and looks like other have the rod holders mounted where the transom curves forward a bit. I posted the rod holders I found too… killer price and they truly look like a handmade piece with real attention to detail. I sorta think Amazon has them priced incorrectly actually since there are two in the package. Every other rod holder I found on Amazon was tack welded junk… and the nice ones thru West Marine or other online marine supply stores were priced about $90 each for fully welded and real polished stainless

Check the stainless quality. A magnet shouldn't stick.

Yeah I know this. And the fact this is a freshwater boat in a covered slip I don’t worry too much about it. At this cost I could replace the rod holder every year for three years and still be ahead of a super expensive brand otherwise. LOL. However out of curiosity I will check the steel out!

So did you get out?

Checked out the tube and the head.. no magnetism at all. If you are in the market for some rod holders these truly seem like great pieces. I’ll share some pics of the welds and overall finish a little later tonight.. just picked up stainless screws and will try to get them installed in next day or two
