Golf Carts….. If you have one let’s see it

I gained 4 mph with the bigger tires but only 18mph top end. Not happy with it …so need to figure that out.
Be careful with opening-up the governor, as one of its purposes is to protect the engine from over-revving. Of course there's some leeway so that the manufacturer doesn't have to worry about blown engines. Check it against specs with a tach; you may need to look at gearing change to get the speeds you're looking for. Or, just go with the devil-may-care attitude and crank on the governor. What could go wrong?

You know how forums are :eek: ….. there are lots of guys getting more speed then I am with stock machine…. I am thinking I have something simple like belt or clutch issue… I mentioned my painter knows the owner of a cart shop… I am sure he will point me in the right direction

You just watch, Blueone will take his cart in for a little tune up and the next time we see it it'll be sportin' wheely bars.

There may a cable running from the drive axle to the carburetor. Lengthen that cable to increase your max speed.

Ha ha, I had wheelie bars and a chute on a hot rod. ;) It was built for a race motor but lived with a mild 400hp small block

Closest thing to golf carts we have. Keep 'em at home to run around the property in. Had four wheelers first, these are a nicer ride.

Not much use having one at the marina, unless you want to go next door to Thunderbolt baithouse and chew the fat with Earl. Which aint bad either.

Well not much progress. I hooked up with Don Plowman of Plowman carts in Flint Michigan. He seems to be the guru when it comes to Yamaha carts. He has me replacing the clutches and changing jets and tuning the carb. He said I will go from 18mph to 29mph. … and not maxing the governor out….
Don seems to have quite the business going there… he has 300 clutches coming in and they are all spoken for and a waiting list for the next round.

He has an interesting approach. I called to ask the best way to increase the speed issue. He personally wants to call you back…. But what you don’t know is he has a 3 day page of call backs… I happen to get lucky when he called back the first time but he needed info I didn’t have with me…. So back on the call back list and three days later… if you miss the call you go back to bottom of the list….. so no kidding I am walking around with my phone for three days so I don’t miss the call…. When he did finally call I was in a meeting with customers…. I did the typical “I have to take this call” excuse… shows you where my priorities are:)
