There are PCR tests that can differentiate between SARS-CoV-2 and influenza, further distinguishing influenza A from B. Trying to find the specs....First Mate works at a lab that processes a high volume of PCR tests, including COVID, flu, COVID/flu combo, and others.

IMO, this should become the standard anywhere it isn't already, since the two can present so similarly but call for dramatically different responses to minimize spread.

I believe another issue with the PCR tests in general was that, since they were so sensitive, they were detecting viral remnants well after infected individuals were neither symptomatic nor capable of spreading the virus. This was something of a problem with respect to how long quarantines needed to last. Not sure if this has been addressed with newer tests.

2020 - 2021 numbers currently are tracking as exceedingly low--fewer than 1000. Per the standard process for detailed data review, some numbers may end up being reassigned from COVID to other causes, and vice versa, so it may be some time before we have the most accurate numbers.

We know those numbers are false. Even the CDC doesn’t know the number. You have to distinguish between those who died due to other complications of the flu ie heart failure etc and those who “probably” only died due to the flu virus itself.

It’s all lies. I watch the various talking heads and read articles and laugh my arse off.

So many seniors still lack understanding... this of course is intentional to foment FUD.

When will the US turn on China?
 
BTW you can tell if you have COVID or Delta.

COVID goes straight to lung tissue. Deep. Lower lobes. That’s where it wants to go.

Delta is weaker but stickier and mainly attacks upper respiratory track. Sinus, throat. Little congestion in the chest, they’re mostly clear.

As some have said earlier, “as long as my family and I are okay”, to hell with everyone else. Nice unhealthy society you are creating!

As of Friday, the average age of Covid-19 patients in the ICU was 48.

"That means there are children -- with parents -- who are now in the hospital," he said.

No everyone. Not debating the efficacy of the vaccine. Some folks that got vaccinated will catch Covid. And a very small percentage of the infected vaccinated folks will Die!

VAERS data released 7/23/21 by the CDC showed 491,218 reports of adverse events from all age groups following COVID vaccines, including 11,405 deaths and 48,385 serious injuries between December 14, 2020 and July 16, 2021.

Here’s the answer, which comes from the same set of government numbers that we just listed: The actual number is almost certainly much higher than that — perhaps vastly higher. The data we just cited come from the Vaccine Adverse Events Reporting System — VAERS — which is managed by the CDC and the FDA. VARES has received a lot of criticism over the years, some of it founded. Some critics have argued for a long time that VARES undercounts vaccine injuries. A report submitted to the Department of Health and Human Services in 2010 concluded that "fewer than one percent of vaccine adverse events are reported" by the VARES system. Fewer than one percent. So what is the real number of people who apparently have been killed or injured by the vaccine? Well, we don’t know that number. Nobody does, and we’re not going to speculate about it. But it’s clear that what is happening now, for whatever reason, is not even close to normal. It’s not even close to what we’ve seen in previous years with previous vaccines. Most vaccines are not accused of killing large numbers of people. The Menveo vaccine, for example, is given to people around the world, often children, to prevent bacterial meningitis. In this country, only one person died from that vaccine in the entire period between 2010 and 2015. One. So, compare that to what’s happening now. In just the first four months of this year, the U.S. government has recorded more deaths after COVID vaccinations than from all other vaccines administered in the United States between mid-1997 and the end of 2013. That’s a period of fifteen and a half years. Again, more people, according to VAERS, have died after getting the shot in four months during a single vaccination campaign than from all other vaccines combined over more than a decade and a half. Chart that out. It’s a stunning picture.

So the death rate and side effects from the Covid-19 vaccine are higher than ALL the other vaccines combined, and even after your vaccination, you can still catch Covid-19, and spread it to others? Again, what is the downside to HCQ or plasma treatment?

During the beginning of the pandemic, convalescent plasma was a commonly used treatment for COVID-19 patients, but today, physicians aren’t using it as frequently because it’s not clear if it significantly reduces disease progression and mortality among hospitalized patients. Physicians sometimes prescribe it, though, for patients who are severely immunosuppressed, or for those who can’t be treated with remdesivir because of kidney problems.
Studies are underway, however, to determine if convalescent plasma is beneficial for outpatient treatment.
