New coil and new wires sorted out my ignition issues..

I also ended up just by passing the heater hose lines that run to my hot water tank on the port side. They were proving to be quite the liability and i dont have time to run new heater hose at the moment.

Templates for canvas?

Setting up the boat this spring, we discovered that someone had stolen our Bimini top (forward of the arch) and one section of our camper canvas. I sincerely doubt that the thieves had any real use for it except maybe to carry away items stolen from other boats during the winter months. Our canvas guy says it may be months to get it custom made but it would speed things up if he had access to a template since our original is now gone.

Anyone have any idea where we can get our hands on such a template? Thanks.

Sorry to hear you had your top stolen.

If you cant find a template i could probably make something for you. I have a 95 tho not sure if that lines up with your model.

I’ve had issues with both chokes and other things. Mechanic is saying it may be time to just buy two new carbs. “Rebuilt too many times over the years...”
anyone know what the replacement is for them? Cant wait to hear the price tag for those!
But another thought came to mind. Conversion to fuel injection kits. Anyone else done that on our motors? Good/bad idea? Cost?

I got my port side carb running perfectly. My starboard side needs an anti rust bath and the choke adjusted. But other than that i cant complain.

I briefly looked into a fuel injection conversion and from what i saw its not worth the hassle but i didn't look into it too hard. The tricky part apparently is mapping it properly.

I dont know exactly which carb you need i cant remember off the too of my head (edlebrocks sound right?) but i think they are about 600 a pop.

Good luck.

I have EFI in my 98. I have carbs in an 89 Carver.
Both sets of engines run fine. You just have to treat them differently.
I have never heard of a carb "wearing out", just the service parts. But, you may want to go new as a reset baseline for the motors.
I would not bother to convert a carb engine to multi port EFI. If you are going to replace the carbs, then you might want to look into throttle body EFI, where you still have a carb, but a MEFI computer is controlling the fuel flow and spark advance.

Someday, when I'm up visiting some nefarious friends in Nash who are just now getting back on the road, I'll find you, and we can chat this stuff up.

Has someone said before where we can purchase those plastic pieces on the back corners that cover the blower exhaust holes? I could use a new one for my port side. But willing to buy both sides if I could just find them somewhere...

They have been out of production for well over a decade. No one has ever found any new old stock as far as I know. Another member and I pooled our good pieces and had a local yard guy fabricate 2 pairs out of fiberglass. I still have my set, and likely will never put them on. I came up with a better idea, and it's worked for me for nearly 20 years now. I can't find the posts right now, so you'll have to search around. If I find it, I'll point you to it.
Found one.

Has anyone ever adjusted the throttle friction screw or know where it is? My throttles slip sometimes.

Also does anyone know how to service the engine synchronizer? I think mine might need some adjustment or something it was doing some weird stuff when i turned it on the other day. It probably hasbt been oiled/serviced in 20 years.

Throttle friction screws are pretty straight forward. There are two slotted screws that hold down the stainless base plate beneath the throttle levers, take those out and move the plate to the side. You will find the adjustment screws for each individual lever under that. Righty tighty. Be mindful of the full stroke of the throttle as you can also adjust that with those screws as well.

Awesome i actually just did it tightened it up nicely.

How do they adjust the stroke though?

personally, it sounds to me lie you have something wrapped around the Stbd running gear. Over the decades, I have picked up many a strange thing. The craziest was a red shag throw rug. That will get your attention.
Finally got back down to the boat. Damn work! Anyway got under the boat and nothing is wrapped up in the running gear. Was really hoping I would find something.

That is actually a IPAD PRO with Navionics app. I also have the emTrak AIS module just because... I do not cruise the ocean, just the back bay in NJ and it works great for me. Cheap case (40 bucks maybe?). Continuous charge cord wired to 12v system, but need a better "look" for the charge cord. All new trim, gauges, etc etc. thank you Searay for plenty of slack behind gauges. lol
