now I know what mine will look like with a 12’ dinghy on the platform.
Looks like you don’t use the Davit instead you use a Hurley H20 ramp style? How’s that working out?

6800 for heated in Seneca Illinois. No winterization. This is my 1st time even having to pull for the winter so I’ll see how it goes.
That seems reasonable for inside storage. Can you do work on your boat or do you have to let them do everything?

Hello all,
Just closed on a 2005 500 sedan bridge. Cant wait for next season to come so I can bring her home to Montauk NY, but in the meantime I have been reading this post and trying to learn what I can about this boat. I have what I hope is an easy question..the table up on the bridge cracked and and I want to replace it with a custom one. Does anyone know the measurements of the table? My boat is in MD and I'm in NY or I would go measure it myself!

I just happen to have mine in the garage. I’m building a new one out of teak this winter. The factory bridge table on the 52 is 3 foot by 2 foot. Yours should be close to the same. I’m making mine a little smaller so it’s easier to get around. Probably 30 x 18. Welcome to the 50. You will love it!

Congrats. Great boat. Enjoy.

I have a 1996 500 DA with a dingy attached to the swim platform. It covers the swim platform (pictures attached) and I cannot figure a way to get onto the boat if falling overboard. The access to the bow is narrow, slippery and there are no hand rails. I am concerned about falling when going to the bow to place bumpers for docking or attend to the anchor. Falling in the cold water of the bay would be bad but not being able to climb on the boat could be very bad.

The ladder on the swim platform is covered by the dingy so is not accessible. Does anyone have an idea of how I can mount a ladder or another method to board? The swim platform is too low for a under platform ladder.

OO ordered the boat without one as he had no need. I installed the H30 which is basically like operating a trailer on a swivel platform. I did lengthen the trailer tongue and installed a two speed winch which works better that the single speed that came on the system. The extra storage space comes in very handy.

I didn’t know the crane was an option. the Hurley is a great option then.

I added air pressure to my SeaStar reservoir. The gauge showed zero psi but the instruction state 25-35psi. The fluid (before adding air pressure) was showing the Maximum fluid level in the reservoir until I added 25psi of air. The fluid dropped down to low mark which seemed ok.
We went for a ride last week and the steering operated as normal. Didn't check the engine room until today but when I did I found a fair amount of steering fluid in the bilge... ughhh!

Pressure gauge is down to 10psi and fluid level is below the Minimum fluid level mark. I believe the fluid leaked out back at the ram in the back of the boat. Not exactly sure, have to go back tomorrow and try to figure out where it leaked and why.

Any experience? Maybe the PSI was too high and needs to be checked when the engine is running.?. Hopefully a fitting was loose back at the Ram.

Always something...

Any insight on this repair is appreciated...

Found the leaks...see below pictures. Not sure the ram seals leaked prior to adding air. Although the floor under the steering rack has always been a little nasty and hard to keep clean. I guess I could remove the air from the system, refill with steering fluid and see how far that gets me... but in my constant drive to improve the boat back to like new condition...here I sit. Trying to figure out if I can replace these seals myself or better yet hire a proffessional.

Some folks suggested once they start leaking it is because the ram is scored although mine looks and feels smooth and clean as new.

The complete seal kit and price is...
SeaStar Solutions HS5180 - Seal Kit - PS CYL HC5805/07/09 $80

A complete rebuilt unit is...
Power Steering Cylinder HC5801-2 / PSC200-9

$2,223.00

Not sure if these guy are the best the name escapes me now, but there are tons of companies that will rebuild these units though sometimes not cost effective.

I’d suggest you remove if you can and take them to some shop that does a lot of hydraulics work. See if you can find one or go to Agricultural tractor shop that can send you in the right direction. I know there’s one in Fishersville, VA but you should be able to find where guys take hydraulic pistons & hoses to for repairs. That would cut your overall cost and protect your boat from sloppy removal/ install.
