500/520 DB official thread

Thank you. So you can run RCA to the bose system. Great! Exactly what I was looking for! I did not want to try and run all new speaker cables throughout the salon and stateroom. I like the way yours our connected so you can use either unit.

You can drop rca’s down the stbd wall at the helm and they’ll come out above the tv in the salon (sounds easy doesn’t it ) The rounded finished panel is held on using Xmas tree type clips. Hopefully your boat has pull wires in the walls it would make it a lot easier.

Do the 2006 52's have a pull out couch/bed on the starboard side of the salon? Anyone know who made those? I'd like to get one in our '05 500. Custom job from Sea Ray? I'm open to ideas.
This is the pull out couch on mine. It is horrible. I’m not sure if it’s broke or what but you have to flip up a bar on the head of bed to even make it lay flat but then it makes the bed very short. Would like to hear about others also.

I wouldn’t let my dog sleep on it. The space is much better used for storage. The pull out bed is in my basement to be put back in when it is time to sell the boat. I bought an air mattress that fits in the salon between the couches in case we need the extra sleeping accommodations.

The couch bed is terrible we removed it it’s in our shed we store food there as we live onboard during the winter.

Well we want it for my daughters boyfriend, so.... Just kidding, thanks all for the reviews. Saves me $$

My wife put 2 thin memory foam and 2 padded mattress covers and it helps a lot and we are still able to fold the bed. We maybe use it once a year so it’s fine

Pull-out bed is nice to have in a pinch but I like the idea of removing it for the space. We definitely run out of cabinet space on a week long trip.

Really? Even with 4 kids we don't. The PO had so many fuel and oil filters stored on our boat, we seem to have storage galore. Of course, I make the kids wear the same outfit everyday...just kidding. If you have teenagers, you know.

we have Tupperware containers with spare filters, parts in the floor cavities in the long run where the sump pump is we tied strings to them and push them down then pull them back up, when needed.

Thanks! Sounds like a great way to spend a day LOL..

I have a cabinet maker building me two new doors and the center piece. Our re-finisher didn't think he could strip the OEM door and refinish it acceptably.

Got the two doors back and installed. Turned out to be a close match. They built two new doors and stained to match with clear on top. They are working on the center section now, should have it tomorrow.

I’d suggest you remove if you can and take them to some shop that does a lot of hydraulics work. See if you can find one or go to Agricultural tractor shop that can send you in the right direction. I know there’s one in Fishersville, VA but you should be able to find where guys take hydraulic pistons & hoses to for repairs. That would cut your overall cost and protect your boat from sloppy removal/ install.

Thanks John (Gimme Time) and Carterchapman for tons a great advice. Followed your lead and removed the Rudder steering ram and took it to a local hydraulic shop. $200 in parts and $400 in shop fees but the Ram is rebuilt and has been holding fluid for a few weeks now. Bleed the lines and all seems well. Received the replacement boot late and had to I install myself. Wasn’t hard once I learned the process.

Now waiting on the new AP...

Thanks again guys!

Attached invoice from Seatech for the boot. Also attached are the instructions from SeaStar to remove the rod end.
