Hi, what’s it take to remove the lights and what did you replace them with?
Ray the lights are spring loaded and just pull down. I know a couple of the guys on here replaced the cabin lights with LEDs. Josh (not her decision) might have a model number I think he changed all of his

Plate is easy to find in West Marine. More a matter of distance between the studs/holes than size. What's harder to find at WM are aluminum "zincs" for use in the bay. And no, no anodes on the shafts.

The anode on the transom is a Divers Dream and is about 12" x 6"

The one on my office floor has a part number of DDH-612

You should also check the anodes of the dinghy lift, trim tabs and bow thruster.

Sad to say that my boating season has ended abruptly. I didn't go down without a fight though!

We made our last trip from Mackinac Island to our home port on August 2nd...entered our harbor and topped off the tanks and proceeded to our slip. Spent the next 3 days cleaning and doing a little bit of work at home and decided to invite some friends out for a cruise on August 6th. They hadn't been to a restaurant since before shut down so we were going to cruise across Grand Traverse Bay to "Knot a Bar" in Omena. They had to be very careful not to get hit with the VID as their son was drafted by the Saints in the 3rd round..he couldn't risk getting sick before signing his contract as a rookie.

Well, they arrived at the boat, we chatted and then it was time to depart....the port engine would crank but not turnover...what do I know about diesel engines??? Very little when it does this! I tried priming it as it didn't seem to be getting fuel. A day later my mechanic called and walked me through some tests to try, those failed also. He arrived at the boat on the 12th and after a couple hours determined it to be the EDC. (We swapped the STBD. engine EDC to the port and it fired right up.) We both thought, No big deal, get it ordered and get back on the water! A small fee would be paid for this new EDC of course...$4,700.00! Oh well, 5 boat bucks it is.

The sad news came the following Monday when he called and stated that the EDC has been phased out by Volvo Penta and the new vendor won't have production on them up until Q4 2020. You hear that? They phased out the most important part of the engine before the new vendor was up and running...idiots!!! Trust me when I tell you that we have called every VP dealer east of the Mississippi and no one has it. A dealer in Maine told me to "get in line" with everyone else that is waiting for the same part. WOW!

So, our beloved 460 is now more of a barge than a boat. We have a very nice harbor we call home port, but it just isn't the same when your "Stuck" in it. We will have 6 more weeks of floating on it, then we will put her away. Haul out day is always the hardest part of the season, but this one may be the worst ever.

Have a great rest of your summer everyone and here's to calm seas and light breezes.

Did you ever get the EDC? I just started catching up on old posts and saw this. If not and you need one, I should have one in the warehouse on my old port motor that I replaced. Let me know if I can help.

Do this. I actually just swap out the yeti for a Domatic electric cooler. No more ice and love it.
You get extra space for drinks or ice.

I took what Joint Custody did one step further...I bought a larger plug in cooler from Amazon (https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B083QYHHTB/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_asin_title_o00_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1) and removed the stbd step to make it fit. Perfect fit and a little taller than the cushions on the other seats so I am not going to put a cushion on this cooler. I'll post a pic next time I'm at the boat.

This should be a great upgrade by avoiding the ice bags and associated draining and cleaning of the cooler every weekend. I can even adjust the temp to use as a freezer if needed! My Yeti has a matching seat cushion so I am moving it to the other side of the cockpit table and will use it as a seat and backup cooler for really big parties!

I also swapped out the ugly plastic foot switch covers for the windlass with these chrome ones I found from MMI marine (MAXP100733) $74.25 each.

I have not been able to get a replacement yet and do not have any indication from VP when I might see it....Let me know what you have and we can make a deal!!!

Since it is winter and waiting doesn't matter, you are probably better off waiting on a new one. But if you would like, I can get mine for you. Is the EDC the box on the side of our engines that contains the diagnostic port?

It is the box that is mounted next to the fuel filter and has the 32 pin plug on the side. I am actually a bit nervous about getting a new one anytime soon. They originally said early 4th qtr, end of October. But this week they say they don't have any updates to share. I know we have 6 months, but the unknown is what drives me crazy.

Rest assured, I've got one and you can have it. Do you want to wait towards spring or do you want to do this now?

Wow Doug, that's amazing. I thought I had searched out every possible option with no luck, but CSR comes through again!
I will call my VP mechanic to discuss and get his feedback. How much do you want for it?
I think no matter which way I go it needs to be programmed to match my shift levers, which is supposed to be an easy task according to my VP Tech. Getting it done sure would give me peace of mind!!! :)

The stupidest thing the VP engineers did was to make the mount for this thing a part of the fuel filter assembly...what a PAIN as we need to deal with diesel fuel to get this thing off. I've gotten it down to about 5 minutes in the engine room, but should be easier if it's on land so to speak.

I wish I had bumped you in August :) I would have flown to Catawba Island to get this baby!

Well damn now I have to buy the foot switches.

Looks good.

I have 4 Oceanspray cranberry juice containers that I use in my Yeti for refrigeration. There are thicker plastic than most jugs and hold up very well. I use this product with water

. 2 are in the ice chest and the other 2 are in the freezer and I rotate them around as needed. I wipe down the inside of the ice chest once a year for good measure but I do not suffer from any of the mold & mildew problems associated with using ice...

Sitting in the slip when having a rainy day and been drinking all day on the boat.
Then you get home and your $600.00 order from flounder pounder is on the door step.

LOL ... yep!
When talking with the admiral about doing the whole conversion lights, knobs, switch plates I guessed it would be around 2k.
In the picture that is the knobs for the whole cabin heads included. The switch plate are just for the main salon will get the rest down the road.

Question can the trim line of gold be replaced that is all around the cabin and look as good as the factory install?

Was there a post that someone did that they where able to rub the gold finish off of the can lights?
