I already have one of those! Looking for a solution when she's not on board.
Has anyone installed a chain counter on their windlass? If so, which one did you go with?
I got the option with the long arms so I can easily see from the bridge where the anchor lies..Mine is marked similar to Alex’s and my chain counter never fails in any weather she’s barely 5’ 3” though which is good she doesn’t block my view from the bridge.
I installed a Lofran Galaxy 503 Wired Handheld Chain Counter last fall. Was a pretty easy install and the unit works well except...
1) if you use the foot pedals it losses track of the amount of chain out and you will need to reset the counter, easy enough but disappointing. Lofran was surprised to hear this, it may be a glitch.
2) the Handheld tethered Lofran can be cumbersome (for my 5’-4” Brunette) to work the (again tethered) Remote and the water hose at the same time...
3) moisture has crept into the screen and caused the display to fail.
Solution - Lofran is honoring the moisture issue and suggested we upgrade to the Galaxy 703 wireless handheld. This way we can keep it (at the helm except when in use and) out of the moisture and eliminate the tethered issues.
Curious what the install on the wireless is like.
I believe it is the same install except the handheld unit is mounted (in our case) at the helm with a rechargeable cord.
You will still need to drill a hole in the Gypsy for the Magnet, run the wires to your Control Box and tie it in. I did it in an afternoon for the Hardwired Version. See the Download link to the install guide.
How did you route the wire from the windlass to the helm?
Can't hear it at all. Actually, barely audible even when in that area. When the pump was mounted on the plywood decking I could hear it; I relocated it as shown when the autopilot smart pump took it's place. This pump has been changed to a Pentair Shurflo Aqua King II 5.0 which is really quiet. There is no accumulator...
Garmin's instructions showed the pump as close to the steering cylinder as possible. Plus the cabling to it from the steering position sensor and CC were limited in length.Tom
What made you relocate the steering pump to the engine room (lazarette)?

I can get some photos for you on how and exactly where I installed it.Interesting. I assumed I would replace the pump in the OEM location under the helm.
Replacing the Autopilot is on my list of wants... last weekend the Head unit started to give an error message “Drivestop”
Replacement may be sooner than expected.
I replaced mine with and Isotherm Drawer 65. I had put one in my 340da cockpit and I really like the drawer fridge better.Anyone replace their bridge refrigerator and if so, which brand did you go with?

A little pricy but quiet and nice quality.
