Anyone else have any issues or suggestions for using vacuflush. It seems every time anyone goes number two we end up with a clog between the vacuum reservoir and the head on our 2005 280 Sundancer. We have tried using lots of water in the bowl when flushing, little water in the bowl, and holding the pedal down anywhere between 3 seconds to 10 seconds after each flush. No luck. I then have to connect a shop vac to the hose that feeds the vacuum reservoir and put a pulsing water jet down the toilet simultaneously in order to free the clog. It’s getting pretty stressful playing this game of Russian roulette every time.
Absolutely no issues with urine ever.
Any tips?

I tell people not to flush all at once.
Don't be afraid to flush throughout the process.
We just spent a week on the boat, and had no issues with clogs.

How much tp are you using? Excessive amounts of tp can easily clog a vacuflush toilet. I tell guests to use three sheets, three times and then it's time to flush.

Maybe using regular TP is the problem. Some don't realize that there is actually a special "marine" grade TP. It does make a difference.

That's what I told my wife to do after today's incident.

Nah, we do go easy on the TP, and it is marine TP.

:(

I told our guests, if you didn’t eat it it doesn’t go in the head!

My admiral has one of the most sensitive noses on the planet, we use our vacuum flush to the full extent, we do not put any paper or non-human created material in the system, our system passes the admirals smell test.

Our system is cleaner than when we bought the boat nearly 2 years ago. We use No Flex Digestor liberally. 100% of my tank is visible when I pull up the floor plate. I know.

It works!

What do you do with the used TP?

Here's a solution that popped up between some of the above posts. The ad that comes with it says you can stop using toilet paper. What that photo is hiding likely is a flex hose that attaches to a water source and to use this gimmick you press that white lever.

What will they think of next?

Now that we are two years in in the system seems fairly clean, I put two scoops of NoFlex in when we leave, again when we get back, and one scoop each morning.

I'm probably in the minority here, but I've never been impressed with the vacuflush system. On previous boats before the SR's, I had the Jabsco toilets with macerators that worked fine, and were easy to service.

Vacuflush just has too many failure points and can be temperamental.

So you think everyone that doesn't use Noflex has a stinky boat but you have a trashcan full of shitty TP??

I did not make that statement.

Apparently from the number of members searching for a solution to their smell problem that could be the case though.

The wastepaper is placed in a can with a tightly sealing lid and held in a deodorizing bag that is changed out frequently.

I can tell you this, some people have olfactory senses that are far more sensitive than others, there are many that believe their boat does not smell and it stinks to high heaven. It is not unusual for others at the dock to tell someone they need to change their filter.

I wish I had an answer but to those who don’t go #2 or don’t flush down the TP—to each their own. I have two daughters and a wife so neither of those rules will fly. When used properly we haven’t had an issue. Meaning go easy on TP, use plenty of water, and a courtesy flush can’t hurt. I mean a pumpout at the dock is cheap compared to three girls complaining on the boat.

Is it possible the vacuum switch is bad and not creating enough pressure?

it is funny how different people pick different things to be picky about. My girl would rather put the paper in a can and use high-quality paper rather than the thin stuff that you can flush in a marine or boat toilet. LOL

She was the one who instituted a no paper policy when we kept having trouble with our RV tank system. She was the one who instituted the no paper policy when we kept having trouble with our RV tank system.

I realize logic does not always play into highly personal activities but most of the females are already throwing highly personal “things” in the trash. Just saying... LOL
