This made me sick to the stomach and prompted me to quickly check my marina cameras to ensure mine was still floating...

Gee Thanks, How am I supposed to sleep now! I frequently have strange dreams of arriving at the marina and finding my boat has sunk. Strangely though it is always one of the boats in the past, never my current boat. Just the same, when I drive to the marina I drive down a side street with condos between the street and the marina and I can see the boat between the buildings as I drive by. I always look with crossed fingers that its still floating. I have never even had a close call or reason to believe my boat would ever sink but I have a friend whose boat sank twice. An old grand banks in bad shape that had more reasons to sink than float!
Cheers CD

I am still getting the feel for driving this new to me ship. So far i'm loving its stability and how i barely have to adjust throttles no matter the seas. Gosh i was constantly adjusting my throttles for going up and down waves on my old 360 gasser. Anyway i still feel this boat rides a little high, but i'm new to flybridge's and honestly i just cannot completely tell what the right bow attitude is yet. What are you guys typically running the tabs at while at ideal cruising speed? Right now i'm about 50% down. I have a heavier hydraulic lift with a 300lb dinghy typically on it. I recently put 100' chain in the bow locker but didn't notice much of a change.
I have found this boat like a lot of tabs while on plane. In past posts of mine you will see a lot of graphs and charts that plot RPM, speed, and fuel consumption. Counter-intuitively to me, I have found better fuel consumption with more tabs. On my boat, you can also hear the difference. The engines are slightly quieter and sound like they are fighting less with more tabs. I don't have a dinghy on a lift at this point...

Yikes! That is spooky...I even have the matching black hull!!

I find that when cruising at above my usual 10 knots I am pretty far into my tabs, I start full down and pulse them up until I get my best speed.

I agree with very aggressive use of the tabs as well...most of the time, as she is about to hop on plane, I bury them down and keep them that way most of the time. There is a different sound the more tab you use. I have noticed this too. Now, once/month or so, I will push her up to WOT just to ensure I am still at 2,680rpm. When I do that, I get my best top end speed with little to no tab....

Do any of you guys double up on hose clamps? I'm always worried about breaking clamps while under way and was debating on doubling up on hose clamps wherever possible. Am I being too anal??

Water intrusion update for my friend's 420:
Harold had the boat hauled and had all of the strut bolts replaced and resealed. He had the hull parting seam resealed around the stern and had the thru hull transducer that he knew had an active leak, resealed. Total bill was just under $5000. Upon arriving home after a 2 hour cruise from the yard, he had about 5 quarts of water in the aft bilge sump. As he was investigating, he discovered new water in his forward bilge in front of the washing machine which has always been dry. As he continued to snoop around he found an inspection hole he never knew that he had to starboard of the washing machine and found three inches of water under the subdeck. He vacuumed it out and will watch that now. I'm thinking it has to be a leak somewhere in his fresh water system but he says he never leaves the pump on and when it is on, never hears it cycle on its own.
Saga continues.

I had a similar experience on my 07 after chasing leaks for several months. When I finally got the boat to be dry in Florida torrential rains I would get water in the sumps after a run. The solution was to get in the bilge when the boat was running at speed and find this leak! To my shock the water was running out of the hollow center walkway where the factory tabbed the piece to the hull. I cut the hole discussed earlier in this and the sundancer forum and took out 15 gal of water. It did take several trips to get it all out as my hole was cut in the aft and a little water would run back when the boat was used.
My theory is when Searay built these boats and installed the hollow items like the center walkway or even stringers, their glass work was not good enough to keep standing water out. I have since re-glassed and gel coated the suspect area and along with not having any standing water, even after a 4 hour run the boat is dry.
This could help explain your friends issue, especially if someone cut an inspection hole in his affected compartment.

That is what I suspect as well. He is crazy OCD about water in the boat. I don't like it either but in reality a figure as long as it does not come in while the boat is idle and dries in a few days I'm not going to kill myself trying to remedy it. I don't want stagnant water stinking and causing mold and mildew though either. I am sure he will figure it out at some point, if he does I'll be sure to share because it will be a weird one probably.

These boats are very prone to freshwater leaks. The crimps behind the female connectors relax over time and they drip. Originally I thought the little beige colored inserts/washers were bad and replaced them. When that did not fix them, I cut the ends off and replaced the female connectors and used spring clamps to clamp them. My shower valve cold and hot were dripping, HWH connections, and various others. I had water in the stringer to the starboard side of the washer when I bought the boat. I put the inspection plate in just like in the walkway between the engines. Finally, I am 99% dry with a slight leak on my starboard rudder packing. Chasing leaks can be a never ending process.

I finished my panel wrap in carbon vinyl. The carbon compliments the dark grey Fiberglass and black eyebrow
Nice layout... You might conside adding a I70s display to your set up. Check it out as it will give you all your engine data while underway so your chart can be full size. I added one to my set up and can't be happier.

Very clean look and interesting instrument and display layout. I’m starting to see some very creative looks. My new Panels arrived from FP Marine so I’m looking for ideas ...
You do know Technografic can make you any of those panels already pre cut with your MFD or gauges layed out how you want? They made the OEM parts and just give Same the details what you want and they "CAD" it up and cut it and finish it perfectly so all you do is bolt it in. I am in the process now of redoing my cluster so i can fit a pair of 16" Axioms in there. Sam over at TG is great to work with.

Agreed re: freshwater leaks and the never-ending process.

Any chance you could post a picture of the starboard stringer inspection plate location? I would like to do the same...

You can see it in front of the accumulator tank I installed just starboard of the forward sump.

Thank you! Now that I see this picture, it looks familiar. Have you posted it before? I added an accumulator tank in almost the same location... I feel like I might have even commented that previously. Maybe I just imagined the whole thing!

Man, must be getting old...can't even remember!!

Maybe, but no worries....just living long enough to get old is accomplishing a lot...the older I get, the harder it is for me to crawl around my bilge...

Yes I am aware of that, Thank you. Some day when I know that I am finished with updating the equipment I might have some panels made but honestly I'm not that fond of the faux burl look anyway. I'll most likely layup some carbon panels as I have the technology, skills and equipment to do that. I went with the $40 dollar roll of vinyl wrap to proto type and see if I really like the look of the panels. Now I have to decide if I want to do the switch panels to match. I may replace the rocker switch actuators with the engraved lighted ones and wrap the panels to match. I want to see how well this stuff holds up. Also I am pretty sure that within a few years we will be moving up in boat. This is about the longest time we have held a boat so the itch is getting more and more intense
