The "virus" What are your thoughts

Sorry to hear that. I think we are all going to start to hear of people we know and love falling ill from it. Let's hope it does not become as bad as it may.
Thank you. He's a great guy and I'm praying for him.

What a ride. My Mom texted me that info today, and my family and I are trying to figure out this trip to FL, or we're out some cash. We've deduced that if we don't go, we won't have any other time to go with our kid this year. No refunds, just a credit which has to be booked within 90 days and used by the end of the year......

While he’s at it he should get the folks truly responsible, Wall Street. If the stock investing world didn’t demand earnings over all there wouldn’t be pressure on companies to find the lowest cost producers. Similarly, if the US was less litigious, then management wouldn’t be petrified of stock holder suits over failure of fiduciary responsibility because they opt to not follow a low cost supplier. Simply put the management of a public US company that pulled out of a low cost manufacturer in favor of a higher cost one would be crucified. So in short, if you own stock, or a stock fund, get in line to get slapped. But then as long the average consumer prefers cut rate stuff, manufacturing is never coming back to the US and they deserve a back hand as well.
We don't by chit from Iran. But China on the same "do not buy list." Wall street, big corps and the politicians where all in on the scam.

There are no easy decisions in times like this. We decided last year that we would not take the boat south this winter because our daughter is getting married in May and we would be busy this spring getting ready. We thought this would be a good opportunity to try out renting so we booked a condo in Ft Myers Beach area for Jan and Feb and it was wonderful. We could have gotten it cheaper if we would have rented March also but the admiral needed to be home here near Buffalo because she was supposed to be throwing a bridal shower for our daughter Sunday. Yesterday morning she called the place where it was to be held to cancel because our daughter said she did not want to come here (she lives in Metro NY City area) and possibly bring the virus with her into our home (she is a pharmacologist and understands that stuff way better than us). As it turns out, yesterday our governor closed down all the bars and restaurants so the venue called to say that we can reschedule or get all our money back because it's now an emergency situation. That made us happy (although we will reschedule). But then the banquet venue where the wedding is to be held on May 16th called to say that under the CDC guidelines of no gatherings of over 50 people or is it 25 now, for the next 8 weeks, they will be closing until May 10th, but don't worry we are still on the schedule, but if it is extended, we will have to postpone. Great. That's going to cost some money.
It was interesting and at the same time scary to watch this virus thing march across the state from downstate to Rochester on a greyhound bus and then to western NY via a young lady that visited Italy and 2 other younger folks that recently visited NY city area. Now our county Health department via local TV stations and newspaper is putting out public notifications of exactly where these 3 individuals have been in the days before they tested positive so that if anyone was also there, they can take precautions and get tested.
So yesterday I said to my wife "well, if we had a crystal ball, we could have stayed in FL, or even taken the boat" she agreed that sitting in the sun and walking the beach would be better than sitting in our house and walking around the neighborhood in the cold.
But, then again, if something happens to one of us, like your Godfather, there's no place like home. Maybe everything happens for a reason.
Our inconveniences are small potatoes compared to what may lie ahead for many of us including your family.
From where I stand, here in NY State, the highest state concentration of the virus now in the country, I think it's just a matter of time before it's everywhere. A big crap sandwich that we are all going to have to take a bite from. If sitting tight is the best thing to do then we need to do it. Might as well do it and get it over with as quickly as possible.
Good luck with your decision and regardless of which, stay safe.
Again, all the best toward your family.

My county just issued a shelter-in-place order. Not sure how they would go about enforcing it if they had to.

I just found out there was a fight in the local Walmart, two women went at it and the police were called to break it up. I know there's a question you all want to ask....yup, it was over a roll of toilet paper. The shelves were empty, one gal took some out of the other gals cart......whamo, socko:)
They are fighting over ammo here (Rural King) last night , everyone cleaned out.

our club sent an email earlier today that they locked out the indoor pistol range. Our key fobs won’t get us in until further notice. They don’t want anybody contaminating the building. We can still shoot on the outdoor pistol and rifle ranges. A great way to get some fresh air and not be near a bunch of people.

I hope he gets better Ollie.....

A little advantage to having my boat on a trailer at my house...I can crank the engines on the hose, put the fan in my face, and close my eyes.

Damn, I should have thought about that before I pulled the trigger on my boat.

Prayers for you and your family Ollie.

Rumors from some trusted sources I know say that Dewine is going to lockdown Ohio on Thursday.

The Mayor tried to lockdown our town in Indiana.... but he left a few loop holes open.... you could still get around pretty easy. But I get the point. My 19 year old took this tweet as a full lock down which is what they want are these young kids to park for a while.

I am out of room for more ammo since last election.

Locked and loaded.

Plans to Fl still on unless they close the beaches and Hiltons.

It’s $55 round trip from Chicago to MCO.

Hopefully we’ll be able to spread big tips around to those still working in the travel leisure industry.

Pffft.

There are so many loopholes to be exploited in that statement it is meaningless.

Ya, what a deal hey. My son just started marriage #2 last summer. He married a gal that's 17 years younger. She wants to have some babies and at Christmas time they announced there was one in the oven. I'm concerned with the affect the virus might have on Mom and the baby. I could use a new boat buddy, my other three grandkids have outgrown me...I'm no longer cool enough to hang out with.

I bought a new truck this week. The folks at the dealership all acted a bit glum, I wonder how bad it's going to get for that industry.

I stopped at Walmart yesterday. The food shelves had plenty of food, maybe a little bit thinned out, but the TP shelves didn't have anything on them, not even 1 roll. Butt wipin' must have priority over eating.

There aren't many known cases of virus in WI yet but it's working it's way up from the south end of the state. Right now the closest cases are about a 100 miles south of me, it very well could be here we just don't know it yet.

I'm going to hunker down. Like many at CSR I'm in a high risk group, one of the old farts. I'm calling the marina tomorrow to see what they're going to do. It may be that the boat isn't even launched this spring, I hope it doesn't get to that.

Elbow bumps and best wishes to all my CSR buds. It's funny, I think of many of you as friends and we've never even met.

Hi Woody,
I drive past the Belvidere IL Chrysler/Jeep plant on my way to my office (Still going in but we have separate offices and all meetings are cancelled - no visitors allowed either) and their parking lots are virtually empty. A few cars but probably less than 50 total over the 1 mile length of the facility. Doesn't look good.
Many trucks on the road - but less car traffic.

My local grocery store is very similar. Plenty of food. Meat shelves pretty bare but lots of meat behind the counter. Not a roll of TP or paper towels to be found.

Be safe!

If you'd loiter around the Apostle's more this Summer Woody, maybe we can bump elbows. I have another buddy with an Amberjack who lives in Bayfield we raft off with at times. He just retired and makes a mean Old Fashioned. Me, I'm more of a beer man.

FCA Sterling Heights Assembly where the new ram is built just idled the whole facility at 9:15am. Indefinate layoffs for whole plant
