Official 320 Dancer Thread

I have a mis-behaving starboard oil pressure gauge. On my 280 DA it was easy I just pulled my oil pressure gauge and sent it off to be rebuilt do we have the same option to send the cluster off and just have one gauge rebuilt?

Zinc for Kohler gen in 320. Purchased at West Marine.
Pretty sure that’s the one I purchased. Now I just need to find it on the heat exchanger. There was a bolt on top, but it was much, much flatter and wider. I will take another look on Friday, taking the family out (although, Sunday looks like better boating weather...)

Zinc is just to the left of the remote start switch under the front of the heat exchanger. You have a zinc there because that is raw water running thru the heat exchanger. (Salt water in your case)

Awesome! Thank you, I was sitting on top or in front of the generator, and I was feeling/looking around, but nothing felt/looked right. So if I remove it, salt water will drain, but no coolant, correct? The instructions stated to catch the coolant and refill, but that makes no sense to me. Oh, and happy thanksgiving!

I hold a little plastic bowl under it when I change the zinc, but you will only get a small amount of salt water when you remove the zinc. Also, put some Permatex high performance thread sealant on the threads when you install the new zinc.

I have the thread sealant, knew I needed that from the manual. Thanks again, this was really helpful!

I will as well! Whould love to be on the water for the full weekend...
We are typically in Bunces pass (see red pin below) in between Ft desoto and shell key. Might head the opposite direction and go to downtown Tampa, dock at the convention center and enjoy downtown Tampa’s river walk and the several bars and restaurants. I love the smooth water in Bunces pass though, makes fo a nice relaxing day.

Where can I find the differences between the model years? For example, I have looked at a 2003 and a 2006 320 and see no obvious differences.

Thanks

Subtle improvements and cosmetic differences. Some newer electronics and different color schemes.Nothing drastically different. I think 06 was the first year for stainless thru hull fittings. Smartcraft wasn't on the earliest 02 models. ECD gensets on later 06 and on models. Check SR website for old model brochures to compare.

Go to searay.com, click owner resources, then model archive, select 2001-2018, then select the year, and you should be able to download the spec sheet for the 320, then back until you can seslect another year, repeat. The spec sheets are 2 page PDFs, including the typical options, but maybe not all options. You might be abl to compare PDFs to figure out the possible differences?? I found it useful when looking at a particular boat and wondering what options were available that this boat does not have.

Camper Canvas was never an option, central vac was in the last model years as was the drop down TV in the back. Wood flooring became an option in 06 I think. Power plant options stayed pretty much the same. Black Canvas became standard where toast was the first standard color.

I thought you just bought another boat that you've been putting some sweat equity into? You already looking to upgrade?

Hi Doug, I flipped it in 30 days and made 35%. The plan was to clean it up, restore it, use it during and see if I could get a full price sale, which I did. So, it's time for the next one, a little bigger this time.

I'm looking for a little more beam compared to the Monterey 302. I get that in the cabin in the 320 and slightly in the cockpit. I was never a fan of the closed off aft cabin on the 302 or the dinnette seating.

We loved the port cockpit lounge seat on the Monterey, I could lay back and stretch out. The 320 has the lounge seat though it's upright. And I liked the walk thru windshield and engine compartment access on the Monterey 302. The 320 engine compartment reminds me of my prior Sea Ray 330.

I downloaded the manual you show above. Perhaps I just won’t see anything until it’s 3/4 full. That would be good. Thanks again!

Hi Jeff: Mine shows empty until it hits 1/2 Full then the lights come on and work thru 3/4 Full and Full Do Not Use. Every spring before launch and when the holding tank is empty, I use a bucket of hot hot soapy water and pull the gauge from the top of the tank, soak it for an hour or so and then scrub it clean. Seems to work for me and we depend on a working gauge.

Excellent. Why not go bigger than the 320? Or go check out the Cruisers line and see what their 33, 35, or 38 feels like. You might be impressed!

There are just a handful of Monterey 30’ cruisers on the market. I really like the 320 SY. I like the walk through windshield but not crazy about the interior or the flip over back seat. IMO it takes up too much real estate.

Doug, I looked at a 2005 Cruisers Yachts 320 that I like, except it did not have a generator. The cabin is very wide open with the couch in the aft cabin

I think Monterey makes a great boat, they lack beam though.

The 320 Dancer gives me cabin beam.and headroom, I'm 6'3".

I also want one I can store indoors, which means I'm limited on the length.

I think about resale everytime I buy a boat. I do have concerns about the high number of 320s and 340s on the market.
