I agree with using a snubber or bridal, not sure that I agree with side loading the bow roller by running the line over to a bow cleat except only in calm weather or lunch hooking.
As long as addressing stresses on the bow roller, get in the habit of when retrieving your anchor, don’t let it slam home into the bow roller. The stresses from doing that repeatedly over time will surely loosen or bend bolts, create moisture problems etc. Leave it a little short of seated in the roller and when you or your crew go forward to attach the safety lanyard, pull it up almost tight by hand and then set your chain stop. If you have a rope rode, or no chain stop, just do the best you can to not bang the anchor Into the roller.
