I just pulled my bilge heater off the boat...

 

I started my port engine only to find my thermostate housing was leaking. I got that fixed and got the AC/Heat up and running. Starboard and the GenSet is tomorrow. But I refuse to pull the heater out just yet, they are calling for snow later this week.

 

I'm getting ready for spring cleanup on the 205. Whalers been on standby, but the river has been so muddy, I don't want to stain it. Some dry sunny weather would be nice.

 

Yeah what is up with the potomac and and Occoquan rivers? They look like an oil and coolant milk shake for the last month.

 

April 1st, 2016 is our day to start! We've been counting down the days since November of 2015! Almost there...

 

Getting itchy over here, too, even though "dewinterizing" doesn't require much....but still a bit cautious because we've gotten popped really hard a couple of times in March, including The Great Ice Storm of '94!!! It was a LONG time ago, but it was absolutely brutal, and I honestly don't know what it did to the local boaters, as the lake life wasn't even the tiniest of whispers for me yet. Might have been like Lake Cumberland from this year....

 

The last freeze in Atlanta is never later than April 15th...can't wait!

I do remember a fluke hard freeze(15*) on April 13-14 around 2007 or 2008.

I always wait for 4/15 though today would have been beautiful!

Bottom painted yesterday, put on all zinks today. Left shrink wrap on, will take off sometime before the 20th, scheduled to go in that week. Can't wait to kick off the season.

 

5-10 inches west of Rochester tomorrow, high of 18* Thursday. We're jealous of all of you..

 

We are getting eight inches of the white stuff - it is going to be a bit yet ....

 

I'm jealous. Marina season starts May1st. Few more weeks before I uncover and start getting things going. Maybe sooner for the drive impeller service.

 

i plan to get mine out of storage very early april and start cleaning and completing things i didn't get done before putting it away

 

Boat gets picked up 4/1 for a short ride to get her new engine dropped in. We already bought it and it's in a crate at the shop. Aluminum anodes arrived from boatzincs.com in the mail today. Gotta head to WestMarine to grab some bottom paint and an extra pair of fuel filters. Polishing my props when the flitz gets here, prime delivery is tomorrow for the rest of my stuff.

Pulled both drives today to do impellers,zincs, and a fresh coat of paint. Ice storm tonight but 65 next Wednesday. Crazy weather

absolutely...we need to get the guys that are on LOTO together.

 

First night on the boat last year was March 7th. I wont be quite that early this year, but hopefully in the next week couple of weeks.

 

Whats everyone's rule of thumb for taking the wrap off? Do you just keep an eye on the forecast? Our first year with a big boat and lots to do to get her ready for splash, some of which is in the bilge where I can't get without taking the wrap off.

 

I hope it clears up soon, I want to hit the water. The blizzard runoff and the oil spill in January didn't help at all.

That's what they're saying here too... I haven't heard anything about accumulation though. As long as it doesn't accumulate, let it snow. I can get plenty of work done in flurries and 40ish degrees Fahrenheit!

About 5 inches here and I ended up shoveling off the boat and canvas. 99% ready for the water already too. Typical NE. 65 one day and 20's and snow.

finished compounding and waxing last week. spent this past weekend sanding and refinishing teak and yesterday 4200'd all my transom screws, etc., and i had removed all my snaps when i buffed so dabbed a little 4200 on those and reinstalled them. also found my galley faucet leak so should be a simple fix. still have a few pieces of teak to re-install and still have to re-bed a few things on the bow and my side windows, then a general cleanup. i was planning to splash this coming friday but with the weather i think we will be shooting for the following friday the 27th. i could probably be ready this weekend if i pushed it and used a vacation day this week but think i would rather take my time and get it right. it snowed a little here yesterday :wow:
