New water pressure sensor in ,reading about 3.7 water pressure at idle on the hose. Seems to be fine now

Anybody have an issue with their 270slx on the helm side dash. The black plastic on top seems to be coming off. Seems like the glue is no longer holding. Should I reglue it or use Velcro or something like that?

 

A pic of the issue would be awesome. But I'm gonna say no on the Velcro. Fix it right, do it once. I see it's an 06. Did something warp or do you think that over time the glue just failed?

 

Think over time the glue just failed. I guess I can always try to reglue it. Any suggestions on what type of glue to use?

 

My knee-jerk is 3M 5200. It's the go to for gluing things on a boat. BUT, I don't know how it reacts to plastic, so I would try a spot to see if it deformed the plastic. 5200 is also a sealant. I just glued some parts with Gorilla Glue epoxy and it held well and stayed semi-pliable, which is what you want, so the heat cycling won't make the bond fail on the dash. I tend to over think things like this before trying them, so there's that. You might try posting this in the general section as well. there are some really experienced guys on here. But hell, I would try the 5200. It's good stuff. If it doesn't work pull it off clean it up and try again.

 

Typically the original glue is a contact cement type glue. Might look into something similar.

Hi guys. Have another question. I currently have boat on trailer and the rain water that's gotten into the boat seems to be stuck in the drain holes in the back of the boat and also underneath the sun lounge cushions. Aren't they self draining?

Has any idea ever replaced the anchor on their 270slx? I'm currently looking at the 22lb delta dtx anchor but just want to make sure it fits perfectly. I've been told that what comes stock with the boat is a kodiak 25 lb.

 

have not had to do that but the parts staff at Erwin Marine tell me that to replace the Polished One is Hella Expensive.

Was curious about the Dash Piece. Did you ever try to re-glue it? How did it go?

 

The boat is having work done on it so I haven't tried the glue under the dash yet. When I do I'll let you know. The person I bought the boat from actually stored it at the marina behind Erwin in the high and dry.

Anyone have issues with rear speakers on Premier stereo upgrade (Rockford Fosgate) not working ?
I went to check the balance of the stereo I notice if you fade to the rear speakers there is no sound Looking for any trouble shooting steps I can do on the amp or system to ensure being able to use the stereo system correctly ? I can faintly here sound in them when the system is balanced between front and rear speakers

 

From what I remember from mine, the rear speakers were wired through the Amp and the fader needed to be neutral for them to work.

 

Does both the front and rear have about the same amount of sound when in neutral? When mine is in Neutral fronts are much louder than rear. Trying to get the speakers to have same amount of volume . Thanks for the help

 

I remember them being balanced. I also had the twin subwoofers which overpowered the regular speakers with sound.

I would have to look at mine. I cannot remember, but I do know that I was having an issue with my Bow speakers last season. I'll check and let you know.

 

I'm still trying to find a decent cover for my boat that isn't 800 bucks. I found that Westland(??) has a cover that fits up to 2009, which should be fine, but since they don't have one specifically for the 2011 they won't take it back if it don't fit.

So, it's opinion time. The cover is ~425 smacks. I am 95% sure that there were no hull changes between the 2009 and 2011 model years (the specs check, Chet). Beam is the same, overall length is the same, spotlight is in the same place, Deadrise is the same, etc. Things I don't know if they changed that might affect the cover: Angle of the windshield, length of the integrated Swim platform, Bow rails, etc.
Opinion: Should I just go for it and do with what comes even if it's not a perfect fit, or just keep looking.

The answer: Yeah, I got canvas, and yeah it's inside. BUT, The tow motor is diesel, and there is always a think layer of diesel soot all over the parts of my boat that are exposed, and its canvas. It's just gross. And a real pain to clean. AND stuff still gets on my boat. Like the boat above mine at some point decided to puke most of it's drive lube onto my teak covered swim platform. And yes I'm pissed, and no, the Marina doesn't care.
K2R is what has been recommended, but if anyone has any other ideas, I'm all ears, or in this case, since I'm reading, eyes?

For my 230 SLX I ended up getting a Carver fitted mooring/ trailer cover from Coverquest. It fits well, decent price ($590 shipped) and good turnaround time (5 business days).

 

Carver cover for my Boat from CoverQuest is 737.00 for the cheap one, 838.00 for the mid grade, and it's for the Boat with the tower. I don't have a tower. This is the dilemma. Back and forth I go...

I was correct stereo is fine now , kind of perplexed why put a 4 channel amp in these if you are running a sub , but in the interest to save money that little money saved must add up

 

anyone change the impeller on an 8.2 MAG? I can see it, and just barely touch it. Do you have to hire a mini-me to change this thing or is there a trick?

I have two winterization questions.

1. How do you fog the 496mag? Can I just use the fogging spray? I plan on winterizing it myself.

2. For those of you with a remote spotlight, do you take it off for the winter time when you have the boat shrink wrapped?

You can not spray fogging oil in a fuel injected engine. Merc has a procedure for running the engine on a cocktail mix of 2 stroke oil and stabilizer with gas. Quick search on here and you will find it well documented.
