Hi. Anyone out there familar with what the floors look like a 1996 210 signature bow rider? Wondering if it would be possible to replace with more modern looking snap-in carpet.

I have been considering such an upgrade ever since I've taken ownership of my 210 3 years ago. I too, have the factory glued down carpet and have often dreamed of replacing it with snap in carpet but am unsure on how to go about with this project. I've checked whats underneath the glued carpet and have found that is a mostly fiberglass (except for the removable center section covering the fuel tank- which is wood. With that, I think I'd just have to remove the seats and attempt to peel it all off in one piece (to be used as a template). I just don't know how big of a job it would be to remove all of the glue and that's the part that is holding me back from making the attempt.

It will not be an easy task. It's a bear to rip up the carpet, and then you still have to deal with all of the glue residue - which is no small task, in and of itself. It may be easiest to paint the floor to hide the glue and hope it sticks well. And, as Joel mentioned, you still need to deal with the wood fuel tank cover and, if memory serves, the ski locker hatch is plastic with a wood core. Both of those pieces will need to be either custom made in fiberglass, or at least top-coated with a grit-paint/gelcoat to match the non-skid. If the top of the ski locker hatch is still plastic (I believe it's a wood core, but not sure about the top layer), then that poses even more of a challenge.

A product like Plasdeck (or something similar) will work nicely (although expensive) to cover the glue residue. But you'll still need to address the hatch covers as the edges will still show.

My suggestion... learn to live with it till you're ready for a new boat and then buy one with snap-in carpet. That's what I ended up doing with my '98 210BR.
