So here's a guy that was probably on the order of -50 reputation points yesterday and today, he is up to over 300 reputation points.

So either everyone on CSR woke up this morning and went "Crap! wkearney needs some rep points", he's obviously messing with the system somehow... fake accounts? I don't know... Also.. My rep points are going down faster than the stock market. Any method to boost rep points can be used to take them away as well.

This whole thing has turned into a joke...

The rep system is working as always. You can try to leave somebody lots of good or bad reputation points but none get applied until somebody leaves you points. So its not possible for one person to have any significant effect on another person.
That's not necessarily true....like Gary said above....people make multiple 'fake' logins and then leave themselve good rep....then go out and shit on others under the guise.....

It's easy.

  • Command key - shift -3 captures the entire screen to a file saved to your desktop.
  • Command - shift - 4 give crosshairs that you can use to select an area and capture it to a file saved to your desktop.
  • Command - control - shift - 3 captures the entire screen to a file saved to the clipboard.
  • Command - control - shift - 4 give crosshairs that you can use to select an area and capture to the clipboard.

Best regards,
Frank

Don't blame me, I've been in the remnants of Ike in Cincinnati watching my Bengals get their asses handed to them by the titans at Paul Brown Stadium. Stopped at the marina on the way home, lots of trees down by the pool, limbs and crap everywhere, and a 5 inch rip in my camper canvas:smt021:smt021:smt021, boat is still safely moored but the mighty Ohio looked like a scene from Deadliest Catch

Gary has a strong point. If you look at the membership page and sort by reputation, the are a few people, like Frank W, who have great knowledge and gives excellent advice. And there are an awful lot of people in the top 10 or 20 who I wouldn't trust to play with a toy boat in a bathtub. God help any newbies who rely on advice from one of those thinking, "He must be right, it says he's a boating genius right there."

I guess it's the same problem that we see with Osama. Everyone gets a vote, and can use it any way he sees fit, even if he's an idiot.

Best regards,
Frank

Damn I'm speechless! You are one whom I usually trust with your comments or suggestions, no mind what some think about a bit of sarcastic humor upon occasion,

but to see you come out and comment like this about the same thing I was beat up for asking about, well I am going to give you a plus 1 or whatever the thing does. Mrs Robinson also took a beating

I will agree I only had a handful of points, 17, but to ask a question and then end up red balled for asking and ending up with some minus number

Well your reputation is fine with me as I have PM'd on a few occasions

I joined CSR to learn or assist if I can, not to become someones object of amusement.

Simple minds are amused by simple things

+1

"gary
how do you do that screen grab trick? i've seen you do it with weather. that's cool."

Alt --> Print Screen keys

Gary, I guess I am not understanding your position on this system. From the red balls green balls thread your message appeared to be the system is silly, why worry about, who cares, relax, what was I getting all worked up about, stuff like that.

Now it appears you too are frustrated with the system. Did I miss something?

"so its funny to watch how people are reacting to what the group thinks of them "

This has never concerned me. I can't make everyone happy or make everyone like me, quit trying 41.6 years ago.

The only concern I ever had was the potential for members to give some one a bad reputation for their amusement, anger, <insert reason> and then you as a poster would be discredited unfairly.

Welcome to democracy. That is how it works.

I started to be concerned about my rep. . .then one day, I made a comment about the balls and lost 50% of my points with ONE negative comment. Phhht. That's the day I turned it off, and I now only look at it occassionally to amuse myself.

Im a dickhead.

Which is, actually, related to the balls anyway.

Proof it's not working? SR Tech has given more help to folks recently than anyone on this board. And, one has to assume his help is valid as he is a Sea Ray Tech. He has 1 green ball.
Sometimes a person forgets about the reputation thing(that assumes he even knows of it). Are you suggesting that every post must be assessed for reputation potential and then delt the appropriate + or -?

I'm sure if SR Tech continues to be his helpful self he will get all kinds of green. Why don't you let the rep thing go where it wants to go, you can't change it, unless...........you put up posts that others feel have some value.

 at both Todd's posting and Mitch's response. Good....good.
