Mine is a 1988 270da twin 4.3l V6. WOT 4300 rpm on new 4-blade aluminum props.(15x20p) boat weighs in at 6800 dry weight. With me on board it jumps to 7158. Top speed on GPS shows 35mph.

1976 SRV 220 CC with 2 crew and full fuel. 42 mph (GPS) at 4400 rpm WOT with standard 1992 Merc 5,7 260hp Alpha One gen 2 and High Five 13 1/4 by 21 at sea level.

Optimum cruise speed seem to be about 26 to 30 mph depending on wind.

Yes you should get much better than 20 mph. My 1986 390 with Crusader 350's turned 28 mph at 4000 rpm on Nov 1 the day of haul out. Still had some throttle left over and probably would have gotten 30 mph at 4400 rpm, just didn't want to push it. My 390 has 4 trim tabs. The 2 between the tunnels are 15"W x 12" deep and are fixed. I am extending these to 16" deep over the winter. The outer tabs are 30"W x 15" deep. I added extensions and 2" X 2" SS angle to the 2 sides for rigidity and to hold the water on tabs for more lift. I also added Bennett led indicators on the dash. The result is @ 75% tabs the boat will rise on plane without having to push the throttles beyond 3000 rpm. At 3000 rpm the boat does 18-19 mph with bow almost level and burns 27 gph on the Garmin flow meters. I can drive the boat sitting down and steer with my feet, very comfortable. The extensions on the fixed lower tabs will allow me to use less outer tab and have better lateral control of the boat. Similar mods should be done to all these boats as well as the older and newer Sundancers. Most boats come from the factory with undersized tabs and in these days of $4-$5 fuel it is even more important to make the boat as efficient as possible.

That is great information. I have not had my boat long and have suspected that she could benefit from additional tabs. I only have the Bennett outer tabs and have nothing between the tunnels. I am guessing that the addition of these stationary tabs there would show the most bang for the buck. I am not sure how anyone with the V-Drive Dancer version of this boat ever get up on plane with the weight closer to the rear.

1986 Seville 190 Mercruiser (3.7? Still learning) Not sure what speed is at WOT but I ran it up to about 52-54 before I backed off last summer. 3 people and 1/2 tank of gas. I was happy.

After two months of rain, I was able to put the 1977 SR 220 CC in the water! 38 mph at 4000 rpm. She carries the chevy 305 motor. She ran like a top! 33 hrs on the original motor but had to trailer her for what seems to be bellow replacement.... Grrr!

Got 39MPH out of OldSkool on GPS. Full tank of fuel, 4 adults and 2 -26qt coolers. Ran WOT at 5500rpm. Spec should be 4800rpm. She would have gone to 6000rpm if I would not have been watching. Need to reprop to get the r's back down. Who knows she may go 45MPH with more pitch. OldSkool comes on plane in seconds though.

5.0 Ford runs like a top through the new exhaust manifolds. Not to shabby for a 76 vintage.
