If only we could harness the power of Omicron to fuel our boats. We need an Omicron alchemist.:)

Thanks a lot, Carp, for bringing this back to the forefront (sarcasm intended, insert smiley face here...). Even though I had bowed out of that thread some time ago, I went back just now and looked at the last couple of pages. Man, there's some angry people there! I just hope that, as a group of fellow Sea Ray owners, we can hold on until the Spring Thaw brings us all back together, talking about boats. Until then, to borrow from @kevin27;

New Ontario restrictions back on for 21 days. Here are some of the restrictions. At least they are allowing a novel form of business for the strip clubs LOL.

Restaurants, bars and other food or drink establishments, including those with dance floors (such as nightclubs) and strip clubs must operate under the following conditions:
  • indoor service closed
  • take out, drive through and delivery allowed
  • outdoor areas open with restrictions including, but not limited to:
    • no more than 10 people per table
    • patrons must remain seated
    • no dancing or singing
    • active screening
    • limited hours for the sale, service and consumption of liquor

I would lose my mind in Canada…. How do you guys put up with this bullshit?

It’s been a while …I use to stay up near Pearson on my way out of Ontario and would get in all kinds of trouble at the Landing strip…. Is that strip joint still around?

“I would really like to see more proactive measures here before the need for hospitalization. Doctors are not performing their craft (not allowed to).”

We the public (vaxxed and unvaxxed) should question why the governments and public health officials around the world have put little to no emphasis on outpatient treatments in their efforts to fight the COVID-19 virus, instead promoting a massive effort on vaccines.
Quote/unquote from a well known doctor now banished from social media………
“Lots of messaging on the vaccine, but zero mentioning on treatment, none. And it’s been from the very beginning. There is a theme here, I hope everyone’s starting to get the theme. There is zero effort, interest, promotion, or care about early treatment, people who are sick with COVID-19, but there is a complete and total focus on people who don’t have COVID-19 and giving them a vaccine.”

This is it in a nutshell. So much for the "hypocritic oath". People should be going to jail for the way this covid has been handled. Fauci should be first to go.

I just hope that the variants continue to be less and less dangerous. Because even those of us that are not antivax and are not anti mask, are getting worn out by this.

I don’t usually make diagnoses without seeing the patient in person, but Carpe, I’m sorry to have to tell you, you are insane, this thread proves it.

The definition of insanity is doing the same thing over again and expecting a different result. Sadly, you got the same result. LOL

Carpe, this post was all in fun…

After yesterday's massive cold front blew through, it's nice to see some clearing in the sky. However, they're talking about more snow for the rest of the week. That's okay; we need the moisture if we're going to enjoy boating on full reservoirs this year. No, I didn't post this in the wrong thread...

And the latest forecast for the Great Lakes is continued dropping of levels next spring, down to closer to long term averages, which is great for our area.

Omicron has turned out to be mild. That’s great. It really is. It does not vindicate or validate anything an antivaxer or anti-masker “theorized”.

I hope there is not a more deadly strain of COVID that mutates next. Maybe there will be, maybe there won’t. None of you know any better than I do.

Not an anti vaxxer, just not dumb enough to take this covid jab....do your own research on masks.

The below is not a "theory"... it's happening now.

This isn't how science works... research Pfizer unblinding their control group.

Is that how it is supposed to work?

These folks are mentally ill! She took 7 tests before flight, all negative but a positive in the middle of a flight is doom for all.

Life is becoming stranger than the satire creators can keep up with…

https://babylonbee.com/news/leftist-who-keeps-getting-covid-tests-says-he-can-quit-anytime
But Mike, those tests are only good for that moment in time! The viral load may increase inside my body over the next hour, needing another test....

Be on the lookout for this at your neighborhood drugstore...pending FDA EUA approval of course...

Just curious, why are people who don't care if others choose to get vaxed, they just don't want the jab themselves, called antivaxers? They aren't trying to stop others from getting the jab. Look up Jenny McCarthy (Wahlberg), now she is truly antivax. I am fully vaxed and got COVID to boot. I am up in the air on the booster. I will keep taking antibody tests and when those start to wane, I will have a decision to make. But, I got vaxed because the "experts" said it would protect me from COVID (it didn't) and prevent me from passing the disease on to my 85 year old mother and immuno-comprised wife. It doesn't do that either. For me the side effects from the vaccine were 100X worse than the actual disease. I legit fear the side effects from a 3rd shot. But if you think it helps you, by all means play the pin cushion. No offense to any here.

I was told on CSR that was not true…

At 60 years old, plus a heart attack five years earlier, I got the original Covid variant back in October '20. Headcold-like symptoms for three days, then a general malaise for about three more. I've had worse cases of the flu. Got the jabs back in September '21. The first was no big deal; sore arm for three days, yet blood pressure went high for about a week. Weird... After the second shot, I started getting discomfort in numerous lymph glands to where I had concerns about what might be going on. After having lost my mother to leukemia in her mid-sixties, there was a not-so-reassuring history to consider. That went on for over two weeks. I'm happy to report that, so far at least, everything's back to abby-normal. Quite honestly, the jabs have caused me more grief, and, might I say, more fear than what I feel about the virus.

- The main concern of government leaders has been the inability to meet hospital demand. This could be due to beds, equipment, staff (absolute or as a result of unavailability due to illness), or any limiting resource. I have friends and neighbours on the front line. This has been a proven, legitimate concern (although I don't buy that it is with Omicron necessarily...but politicians are cowards. I am curious and hopeful the Australia experiment works out!).
- Right now, the vast majority of those hospitalized are unvaccinated. This is a key statement to be able to assert to make the rest of the argument make sense. Because it is so important, detractors will say "this is a lie" and "you can't trust the data." They will say "from COVID" or "with COVID". They will say "follow the money". They will misquote Internet articles that purport to support their case, and misrepresent data they don't fully understand (@alnav and others have done a great job setting this straight on numerous occasions). The reality is this is a true statement. I don't want it to be, but it is accurate across the globe right now, it is supported by local data, and also by anecdotal evidence. It is simply the truth. For me, anyone that doesn't accept this simple fact is grasping and in denial. Nothing personal; it's just too obvious.[/QUOTE]

Missouri released data yesterday suggesting that the percentage of vaccinated in the hospital in the state is as high as 35% (no mention of with COVID or because of COVID). A majority, sure. But not a vast majority. Not arguing that the vaccines don't help prevent major illness in some or even most, but not all. Illinois says their vaxed hospital percentage is 15%, but I don't believe a thing that fat fu@& Prikster says. He'll say anything that he thinks will get him more power.

I was interested in the Missouri hospitalization data. I didn't find it but do see the overall breakthrough data the state posts.

The fact that almost 90% of covid deaths are from among the unvaccinated is pretty compelling. Here is a chart on risk factors:
Image

This tells me that the vaccinated who are dying are generally older and already in pretty bad shape. It would be nice to see the profile of unvaccinated deaths, which may be the same, just in greater absolute numbers.
For those obsessed with case numbers, there is also a recent rise in the percentage of total cases that are breakthrough similar to what is being seen elsewhere.

If government aholes, oops I mean officials, where concerned about hospital capacity then they wouldn't be firing nurses who didn't want to get the vaccine. Their actions belie their claims.

Now here is an article by the conservative rag, The Atlantic, discussing a study which showed half of the hospitalized covid patients had mild or asymptomatic covid (ie; may have been there for something else). You're seeing the media, Fauci, etc. pick up on this because they don't want Brandon to look bad (unlike Trump).

You fire nurses who want to work and keep teachers who don’t want to work

nurses union sucks…. I know they don’t have one

Who are these 42% that think the country is going in the right direction….. that’s my point

View attachment 117919
On most polls of Americans that report on public policy issues there is a consistent subgroup, usually around 30% give or take a few points, that agree with the most outrageous aspects of the polling topic. I have come to believe that there is a significant tilt to the left of the citizenry and there are many socialists and communists living in the US today. Then there is the whole issue of push polling where networks hire pollsters who design the internals of the poll to achieve an agenda. The socialist bent may be over emphasized by this poll design, but the US is getting pinker, especially among the younger folks.

Please keep in mind that we're still in Phase 3 of an experimental drug, with the whole world as its test bed. It's no wonder we keep hearing about boosters and more boosters; it's because we don't know! Had the gummit come out and told us that "this might help, would you be willing to help us learn by taking the drug (or maybe a placebo for the control group)", I would be much more inclined to think we're moving forward, and for the right reasons. As it is, I can't help but believe that we're being lied to, which tends to make me distrust everything they tell us. 'Not trying to go all conspiracy theory here, but I just don't have that "peaceful, easy feeling" about what we're being told.
My wife and I came down with very similar symptoms within a day of each other. We went in to get tested while in the thick of our reactions; sitting side-by-side in the doctors office with swabs up our noses, I tested positive, she didn't. That just adds to my suspicions. I hate this!
