I agree that the arch on the '96 looks great too I am 6'1" and I enjoy standing at the helm, just need a wider stance....

Question: Looking to mount a flat screen TV in the cockpit area and looking for the type of mount that Sea Ray uses.. Anyone of a place to get, or the manufacturer of the one Sea Ray uses...

Thanks!

I just used an aluminum articulating mount from www.jr.com , mounted it on the arch. I removed the speaker and the pad and used a mounting block up behind and thru bolted it. Then used a wire cam to run the cables thru. Down below there is an extra 110v outlet plug for the freezer, just plug it in. I also used a Humax LCD TV with a Direct TV receiver built in. I disconnect the TV and stow below when under way- been 3 yrs no problems.
When I was looking no one made a mount. I figured when someone shows me better I will change it but its worked well thus far.

I sent an email to SR asing about installing undrwater ligts in a 1997 370. Here is their reply for anyone that is interested;

the hull "layup" does not have any coring in the transom "makeup".

However, once the hull is built within the mold, there is added bracing to the transom on the inside, but is not part of any core. I've attached a print of this for reference. This bracing will be a marine plywood.

We did not factory install any transom lighting on this model, so unfortunately we do not have any recommendations, but hopefully the print will help narrow
down some locations.

The print is a PDF file and I am not sure how to post it here, everything I have tried wont work. So I will email to anyone who wants it or if someone can tell me how to post it?

I purchased the Nautley davits for our 370 DA last year. I have a 10'2" inflatable with a 9.9 Mercury. The davits work great - easy to load and unload. Only suggestion I would have - rethink the 9.9 HP - its very heavy and not so easy to mount on the transom (we travel with the engine off)..

Good luck!
Hey Ron,

I sent a PM regarding your davits. I would great appreciate your feedback.

Thanks!

Russ, email the PDF to me and I'll post it on the 370sundancer.com site.

I put Russ' engineering drawing up on the 370 Sundancer site at:
http://370sundancer.com/OddsnEnds/page266/page266.html
If you click on the pic, it will take you to a series of places where you should be able to download the drawing.

I will also updating the rest of the site over the next couple of days so if your boat is up there and you want to add some pics there or you have other info to correct what I've done, send me an email at rubberduckeetoo@snet.net. I welcome any supplemental info or suggestions. Trying to get the tech stuff out of the way before I way up my baby for the year.

Zincs on the shafts

Greetings all

About ready to make our splash - but a question concerning putting zincs on the shafts. I have always doubled zinced my shafts - but talk around the marina is that its not needed, and could cause major problems if one becomes detached. Thoughts? Who does and who doesn't zinc their shafts?

Thanks

Ron

Ron, I have been told the same thing - will be interested in responses. I do not zinc the shafts and never have on any boat. I have always owned used so I just folowed what was there. Never had an issue.

Hey Russ...

Yeah, don't know what to do - I have always put zincs on the shafts - but the word I am hearing - thats a no-no... Interested in hearing what others are doing regarding putting zincs on the shafts (and I have always put double zincs on the shafts)

Thanks for your response Russ

On my old and present boat I change the zincs on the shafts, rudders, trim tabs and sea strainers every spring. On last boat I would get two seasons from the mercathode zinc on the transom. Not sure how it will hold up on the 380.

Not to hijack the discussion about zincs, but...

I received some new engineering drawings for the 370sundancer site. They feature details on the cockpit locker floors. Check them out at
http://370sundancer.com/OddsnEnds/page266/page252/page252.html

As for shaft zincs, I had them on my old boat, but haven't done them on the Sea Ray. I was never told that it was a bad thing, but I don't think they did anything on the old boat because the shafts were isolated from the rest of the boat by shaftsavers. So why would this be bad?
