Due to the 95% certainty of major flooding on the Upper Mississippi, we will be launching early. It is dependent on the spring melt. Last year we were in the water on March 16th (we had heavy flooding in 2010 as well).

Our Marina is protected from the dead heads and wild current from the flood waters, but we normally try to put in the slip once the MAJOR flood waters are receded and the majority of deadheads floated down south. Although last summer flood waters never receded currents never slowed down and dead heads were reborn or recycled all summer long.

Last year on the bay on Apr. 1, this year right around tax time... only way to make me smile on that day!!!

 

Is it warm that early in april? I notice that most of you have cruisers. Is it warm enough for an open bow. I'm thinking about mid april to end of april to launch.

 

First day mine can be in the slip is May 1. Barring any unforseen circumstances, it will be in the slip on that day. :smt038
