Guys - can these keys be duplicated by a typical key making shop or do they have to be ordered from Sea Ray?

You can buy them from the dealer...I bought a couple of extras earlier this year...I think they were about $13. I purchased the extras, because they also work in the lock for the cabin door.

Try a local Ace hardware store. Mine made a spare for me. Cost about $2. It was a plain chromed key though, not the nice plastic-headed OEM key though. It was only a spare so I didn't care.

Ace copied my cabin key too, but that that was about $12 for the blank because it's a special key from Sweden.

On kind of the same topic....I had a 2002 220 Sundeck that I sold to purchase my new 240 Sundancer. I found an old key to the Sundeck in one of my old boating bags. When I looked at it, it looked EXACTLY like the new one. I gave it a try on the new boat and WOW, it worked....Do they all have the same key???? If so, why have a key at all?!?!?

The key to the head on the Sundeck did not work on the Sundancer though...

I just ordered new keys for my port ignition. According to Sea Ray if you call them with your HIN (Hull number) they will give you the code to your original key set. In my case, it was a three digit number followed by a single letter. This is also the same code located on a little metal tab that came with owners manuals etc. Even with this info the dealer claimed to not be able to find the part number, but after talking to SR Customer Svc., they found the right key. ($12 for two)

The cabin door lock also has a three digit key code and can also be found by Sea Ray if you have the original lock set as most of us do. ($7 part, lock made by Mobella, at least most of them, not sure about 2003 and newer).

there is about 20 different ignition keys with about 10 being most popular and head keys are also limited to about 10 of each series:
800 and 900 (number should be stamped inside handle)
