I believe the arm position dictates whether you want to make ice or not. It has nothing to do with the compressor not kicking on.the refrigeration system still has to maintain the temp in the bin. I would start with checking the thermostat it operates like a switch ,if you jump it out and the compressor comes on replace it. Good luck.
ps, I'm replacing mine with a fridge for the cockpit we never use it.

 

Just to let everyone know, the compressor turns off when you rejecting ice from the tray and doesn't turn on until after ice has been ejected. Otherwise these units don't work correctly and would never eject ice. So the compressor turning on is an important fact, does it turn on or does it not.

 

Arm up will stop making ice cubes, but not affect compressor operation. My breaker for ice maker is same as fridge. If ice maker is still cold then compressor is likely working fine. This year mine would intermittently stop making cubes, replaced ice cube section and it was back to 100%.

If the ice makers keeps pumping water there are 2 things that could be wrong.

1. The water solenoid could be stuck open. If the compressor turns on, that is probably the problem.
2. Inside the 'box' inside the ice maker, the ice maker unit has a front cover. The way these work is timing. Once the ice maker unit calls for the ice to be ejected, a gear turns which turns heater on and starts the arm turning a 360 turn to push the ice out. During this cycle near the end after the ice has been ejected, the water solenoid is tuned on to inject water. The solenoid is left on for a short period as the arm turns around 360 degrees. Problem could be the arm is stuck in the position to turn on the water solenoid. Take the front cover off the ice maker unit inside the box(snaps off I think) and see if the unit is rotating. If not, might be jammed or gear broken or something like that. If the water keeps pumping, I would turn water off , turn unit on and let it run to see if maybe the gear is just stuck a little, might lessen itself up after a second or two.

I did the following to solve a similar problem.
Turn off the water system in the boat and depressure the lines. If the ice maker gets cold you probably have problem with one of the three micro switches under the front panel in the ice maker head. You can get new ones at most electronic stores. I replace all three think they were $6 each. The AMP and volt rating on the new ones was much higher than the old ones. Did not seem to effect how they worked. I put plumbers clear grease on things that looked like they would like to be lubricated. If that does not solve problem as mentioned by others your solinoid valve has probably failed.
