How to access/change the fresh Water line to sink?

Well, by now most of you know I am fixing up a 1997 240 Sundancer. The last issue I think there is with this boat is the fresh water hose that runs from the water pump in the engine compartment up to the sink in the cabin. This blue plastic line runs on top of the fuel tank and connects to a fitting in the floor under the sink. Another plastic line connects to this floor fitting and runs up to the faucet. My issue is that the plastic line from the pump to the fitting is leaking badly! I imagine that the system was not winterized properly and this water line froze and cracked somewhere on top of the fuel tank beyond my reach or sight. The line is leaking so badly that when pressurized, the water flows over the top of the fuel tank and runs into the bilge! My question.... is there a way to disconnect this line from the fitting under the sink? Once it disappears under the cockpit floor on top of the fuel tank I can't access it. To make matters worse, it is attached to that floor fitting under the sink. Can I change this broken water line? My idea for an alternate fix is to run a new plastic line up to the sink through the mid cabin. Suggestions?? Thanks,,,,,, John

Fittings... Are you referring to the quick connect fittings? Remove the grey clip, push in (and hold) the collar, pull out the line.

Pull out the cushions in your mid cabin - I believe there is a removable panel that should help.

Where the line goes through the ER bulkhead, there will likely be a lot of "goop" to seal the hole - it's just a bunch of silicone. You should be able to attach the new line to the old one and pull it through. Drill four small holes across the diameter of each line ("X" pattern) and use some zip ties to keep the two ends tied together. Finish off by wrapping with tape to "smooth" the connection so it doesn't get hung up.

Dennis, the quick connect fitting under the sink is attached to the floor! I imagine this fitting is actually a 90 degree elbow. there is a nut on the fitting holding it into the floor. There is no access to the other end of the fitting under the floor where the hose from the ER connects to it. I'll have to drill a 3" or 4" hole near this fitting to get access to the other end so I can disconnect the water line that comes to it from the ER. It appears to me this fitting (with the water line from the ER connected) was attached to the floor before the cabin was assembled to the hull.

Hmmm. Is there anything else (removable) either slightly fore or aft of this location? Maybe access from the port-side v-berth or possibly removing the fridge? If not, drilling the hole is no big deal (just don't drill too far!) and you can use a simple deck plate to cover the hole. There may be foam flotation in there (maybe not), but you can dig it out. Losing that little bit of foam is fine. Use a decent sized hole (5" or 6") if the floor space will accommodate it.

The fridge is already out of the boat. the PO replaced the original fridge with a college dorm style 115v fridge that was just sitting on the floor in the fridge cabinet next to the sink. This fridge is now sitting on the floor in my garage.... I'll take another look at this whole issue and exhaust all other options before I drill any holes. Stay tuned....
