I have a 2003 460DA. What do I need to do once I have coonected a hose to the inlet water fixture so that I am not using water from my tanks? I have attached the water and turned it on, but I still use tank water. I tried shutting the pumps down, but then I get no water.I know I am missing something simple, but.... Thoughts?

Sailor,

To use only shore city water you need turn OFF your fresh water pump breaker. If you loose pressure or get no water, then (as Labbur said) it's the regulator valve in the stern locker. Try to clean the screen, if that doesn't help, then you need a new valve.

Do you have a check valve at your pump? When city water pressure from the back of the boat comes up against it, it can't get past the pump. Perhaps your checkvalve needs cleaning or replacement.

As I recall, there are two different hoses. One from the FW pump and another from the shore water connection. Maybe some models have it setup differently, but IMO there should be no conflicted connection between FW and Shore water hoses.

I had a problem on my 320DA where citi water connection didn't have pressure. I cleaned the screen at the valve, but it wasn't too dirty. My fix was replacing the $40+ (from MM) valve in the stern locker.

Jerry, I don't know anything about 460's, but it is a 2003 like mine and I have a valve on the water manifold in the ER marked "dockside water",
Check to be sure it's on ( if you even have it)

Ken,
that should be the answer of mine.
But my boat is European version and size of the inlet should be metric IMO.
Also the inlet is threaded and seems something should screwed in it and then hose or just putting in the hose ?

I screw the hose right into that threaded inlet. Because of the location of mine in the starboard side locker in the cockpit I sometimes have difficulty getting it started. I may have to do it several times before it threads on due to the awkward angle and hose rigidity. But, there is no adapter that I know of.

Several years ago, our 29' Chris-Craft took on water up to the alternators on the 4.3 Mercs when the water regulator developed a split. Needless to say, the water was left on. Lesson learned $12k. later. Insurance job.
