Just purchased a new to me 2017 400 Sundancer. Wanted to see how other run trim tabs. Ive been playing around with them so see what i thing helps boat run better and to honest it hard to determine. It almost seems to do best with tabs almost or full down. I dont see a lot of drop in bow but fuel economy did seem to improve. Wondering is this just how this boat likes to run for others?

When I first got my 2018 Sundancer Fly in 2021 the auto tabs hadn't been used and I had to spend a couple of months getting techs to get the equilibrium right. It runs great, but with a dinghy on the back I really have to get on plane to run at the highest efficiency. I play with it and find that the auto tab does correctly adjust as best it can from an efficiency and speed perspective.

I needed tabs about 95% down on my 50 DA at all cruising speeds. Boat felt lighter and handled better with the tabs up but the speed would drop significantly.

Always wondered why Sea Ray didn't make all of their boats a modified V? That would have helped with performance and with rocking and rolling at anchor.
