Where is kingman? I don't think block is a great idea as there are limited amount of slip availability...Newport would be pricey maybe...Vineyard? I would be in for this wetpaint

Why not join us instead of competing . It would be a nice trip for you with lots of very cool stops along the way.

Ther was another group that tried to compete with us. From what I recall we clearly came ahead.

CSR AC Rendevouz rocks!!!

Alright, I'm on it.

If you guys want to do something around Buzzards Bay, I would suggest we have a Rendevouz at Kingman during a weekend called "BassAckward Race". Like many good parties / drinking weekends it started out as a sail boat race. There is stuff going on all weekend, but the fun part is on Saturday out at Bassetts Island, which is just a few thousand yards from the docks at Kingman. Its a good party. The race is always held the last weekend in July, but I just checked the website and they have not published a date for 2011 yet.

Here is a video from last years event:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VzlX47ago0Q

Most of the pictures of folks around the Kingman dock are pretty boring. The fun part kicks in around 3:25 - 3:30 minutes mark on the video. There is a barge with a band playing on Sat afternoon. There is plenty of good beach area if folks don't want to hang on thier boats all day (I can't imagine that....but) and there are even porta-potties. There was 1 raft-up last year of 23 boats. I think we can easily beat that with a CSR raft-up. There are tons of kids around, so any of us with families should feel free to join.

If you have friends that want to join, but can not come by boat, there is a launch that runs from the Kingman docks out to Bassetts. Its a couple bucks around trip. But it is a nice way to have people meet you out there, but not have to spend the night on your boat.

For all you guys that want to spend the weekend, the holding ground around Bassetts is really good and its well protected. I'll plan on spending the weekend at anchor. On Sat night we can have a BBQ on Bassetts Island. Maybe have a bon-fire....a few folks with guitars....maybe some hookers...and illegal substances but I'm getting ahead of myself.

If you would prefer a slip, you can reserve them through Kingman, although they fill up fast because it is a popular weekend.

Let me know if this is of interest and I can start to get more details and plans out to you guys. CapeCodCruiser - if you are around and want to help out, that'd be great.

Thanks,

We suck so bad that the AC crew is even taking over this thread advertising their rendezous!
How do you think we feel (long Islanders) We could'nt put more than a half dozen boats together during an august weekend! I have a great idea, why not have a get together to see how many of us long islander boaters wont show up? then give an award for most suckiness! bet we'd win and not the boys from the north!!!!

We Really suck!! bad

Joe, We did have a good time!! It was well worth the 4 mile bay crossing for me just to me you. I'm just starting to give thought to my trip next year. Annapolis or New England (again). Kingman doesn't have a pool?

Joe,

I have to admin that with all LI members we have I was expecting to have many more participants. But, I really enjoyed to time with those that made it. It's not about the amount of boats or the place, but the quility and fun time you get out of the event. That's what matters the most. I'll be looking forward to comeback for more fun even if we have only few boats on the LI side.

I think that next season I may have few folks from our local gang to join as well.

We also had a great time , especially meeting some new friends i"m just poking fun at ourselves maybe next year the wife will want to travel a bit farther, she just doesnt like to sleep on the boat for more than one night says it's too uncomfortable, maybe a memory foam topper will help?

Hey Guys,
I was bummed that you set it up while I was going on that Bermuda cruise for my 10 year anniversary!! I would have certainly went! Hopefully I will see you all next summer, that is if I don't have a birthday party to go to or my kids aren't in any sports that day or if the restaurant isn't having an emergency or if my wife...well you get it!

I had a blast and was glad to meet all that were able to make it this past summer. That being said you can count me in for 2011. Maybe we should start another vote for the location? With one condition, only vote if you have committed to going to that location for this meet? Just a thought. Also seems like we need a volunteer to step up and head/organize this -Beuhler? Anyone?

100+/- Days and off comes the plastic, then the season moves fast!

Its been a month and nobody is stepping up, we do suck! Im up for Kingman - anyone else? When? Do we really want to go during another event? For me its tough to take more than 10 days a month off. I usually take 10 days each summer month but July of course is centered around the 4th and always at Block and then Sailfest/Fireworks in New London Harbor. How about August? There is also Newport, Vinyard or?

I liked the idea of block...70 miles for me, 50 from canal, easy location for RI and CT and NY.......If you don't want the crowds, do June and kick the boating season off.....We just need people who will boat in seas over 2 feet.

Block is great for me, I will be there from June 27 through July 8 and then into New London Harbor for sailfest, world class fireworks and a 20+ boat raft through the 10th.
The only issue with early June on Block is the water temp, usually too cold to swim but I am open to anytime folks are willing to go.
Let's get something started

I'm in for Block Is. or the Kingman event. Block Island in June is tough for me because both my kids have sports / activities until near the end of June......so planning the weekend in June is tough.

If we did the Vineyard, I could head over after Saturday sports...and be there in time for coacktails. Block is too far for me to leave late in the day on Sat.

If you guys like the Kingman idea, but don't want to do it during BassAkwards weekend, we could do it any other weekend. BassAkwards is a blast....but if you don't want to be around 100's of other boaters....than that is not the weekend for you.

One of the main reasons I suggested Kingman (besides it being my "home" marina) is because there is well-protected anchoring for as many boats as we want (around Bassetts Island) and its free...... Folks could also get a slip if they wanted.

I would take the lead on Kingman and do the planning / coordinating....or if everyone wants to head some place else....I'll join you.

Wetpaint-
BassAckwards weekend is July 30th (Saturday). You should plan on coming up to Cataumet (Kingman) that weekend......even if we don't get that many takers from the CSR crowd. Its a real good time, I promise you that.

If you are coming from Hyannis, you could head to Cataument either Friday night or Sat morning. Its probably a 2 1/2 hour trip?

I already know of 4 or 5 other boats that we will raft up with, and I'm sure as the date gets closer, others will join in.

The first step is making the plan......and then others will follow.
