I went down Tuesday and put extra lines on my boat. I also unplugged everything from shore power and took a video to document my possessions. My insurance agent has been notified.

Wednesday was spent prepping around the house and Thursday morning I reported to the State EOC where I have been since.

It's funny folks keep saying to me to "stay safe." I'm in the best location that anybody could ever be in during a storm!

What I need is for my wife and my kids at home, as well as my elderly mother in St. Pete and my elderly Uncle (who is somewhere staying with friends in Levy county) to stay safe!

Thoughts with you all, watching the cable's coverage non-stop. Can't imagine going thru this.
Here is one thing to remember - cable coverage is for ratings. After I left my 14+ hour assignment last night I turned the TV on to the weather channel. There was a "reporter" who was swaying and hanging on to a pole in 29mph winds. This was just dramatic effect! The cut to another reporter who was in 23 mph winds who was standing and talking normally.

I got pretty pissed off seeing that type of acting...

K9 thank you for leaving your family to help others. It takes a toll on you for sure.

As far as ratings I'd also have to go with money as well. The Weather Channel ad revenue must have doubled this month. There seems to be more time per hour spent on ads then coverage. But there is still plenty of time to cover the Storm since it's only moving a few mph....

I have been praying for you all and especially for the folks on the west side who got so little warning. I have no idea how you handle a situation like this. It has to be mentally exhausting.

Almost show time!

All the water sucked out of the marina. Never seen anything like it. Sailboats on their keels. The gangway to the docks was grounded. 8 feet of storm surge should put the docks at the top of the column.

When this started earlier in the week there were only two PASTA MODELS (Pay Attention Strictly To Advertising) that forcast this current track and I said to myself...that's us.

Got a text from fr8dog in Cape Coral - his house and 46DA are OK. He lives on a canal close to Cape Harbor/Tarpon Point. Looks like they got a 2' surge in Cape Coral/Ft. Myers. They storm's turn northward at landfall at Marco Is really helped.

ididntdoit, Haulover Marine Center is in great shape. I got a Facebook post and video from them and all their boats are fine! I also got an email from my new marina and while the marina and a few boats suffered a little damage, my boat had no damage at all!! 3 Hurricanes in the last year, and Sol Mates is still unharmed.
