If Rod can come by car/ferry.....Can I come by sailboat
Did you really have to ask, John? I think we can even come up with a nice dinner or cocktail/sunset cruise on your yacht and you can show off all the advantages of the sailcat. In any event, please feel free to join us. I'm sure docking might be an issue in some marinas, but I'll be grabbing mooring/anchor most of the time, so you can do the same.

If Newport becomes a reality and you would like help with a Marina, The Newport Harbor Hotel is my home port. I could talk to the dockmaster and try to arainge somthing. the jazz fest is aug 2-4 so as long as you avoid that, there should be availability - let me know...

Thanks Mike. Looks like we'll just miss it by a day or two. Although it sounds like fun, but I understand that it'll be a mad house with slips availability. I'll keep you posted after finalize the itinerary.

You're always welcome, Rod.

Guys, does anyone else have any other suggestion regarding the itinerary or other ports/destinations?

Let's see if this makes it a little more readable. We need more folks to start signing up, so we can begin voting for itinerary and move on to route planning and working out other details. We'll have plenty.

Mike, do you want to join us in Block? I know you'll be there earlier in July, but if time permits come and join the flotilla. As you can see the way we line up the ports eventually it leads toward your home port. So, if you wish to do some cruising in LI you'll be getting closer to home with every port.

That may work for me - I will be in block the week of July 4th - then it looks like I may be in Boston for the rest of the month - I may spend august in mystic....so again, block makes sense for us. Of course, this will all change if we head back to Fla - I really want to spend time in the Bahamas

The admiral just said she would rather go,to Newport so plan B for us now, what do you think the water levels will be like at Shinnecock? It was so shallow last year ,after Sandy is it even worse? Man I'm really looking forward to this trip already!
Joe,

Now that we have total of 5 itineraries to choose from, 4 of them (B, C, D, and E) have Newport. Do you want to review those and make your pick before marking you for the "B", which was the only one available at the beginning?

What's your concern, Shinnecock Inlet, Bay or Canal? IMO, the bay is the biggest worry as it was shallow when I used it. The inlet and the canal should be no problem.

Alex,
Put us in for "e" Like i said, we may be a modified "e" and extend at Block and potentially reconnect @ Greenport.
Ron
Sounds good, Ron. Putting you down for "E".

Alex, I was concerned with how shallow Shinnecock canal was last year, we'll see. We're still kicking around the ports so don't put me down yet I'm sure we will squeeze it to fit . Thanks for getting this started.

Joe, as far as I know the canal depths were always good. If you have doubts after Sandy you can always check with the lock operator for latest details. I can get you the phone # if you need it.

Sounds good, take your time with the ports choices. Let me know know if you have other suggestions or questions.

Here's the updated spreadsheet with dates, so we have better idea how the ports fit in within our schedule.

Some good news for our South Shore LI friends.

[h=3]NY: Fire Island Inlet, dredging[/h]
[h=4]Reported By: Ted Stehle (WG Staff)[/h] Dredging will be done in Fire Island Inlet & Long Island from 1 February until approximately 30 April 2013. The hours of operation will be 7 days a
week, 24 hours a day. A submerged pipeline will be placed from the west end of Fire Island and ending on Cedar Beach. On scene will be a
dredge, booster, floating pontoon barges & derricks. The dredge operator will be monitoring VNF-FM channels 13 & 16. Traffic should call 30
minutes prior to passage. The dredge and floating pipeline are held in place by cables and anchors which are some distance away from the
equipment. Buoys are attached to the anchors. Mariners are requested to comply with the Rules of the Road and to remain a safe distance away
from the equipment. Any fishing equipment in the area should be removed prior to the work begins.

No, but I made one for Rick. He's validating it and said that if it's a success he'll give you a copy. I'm looking forward for your feedback on it.

Gary, you have to come north and meet us. Where else will you get those tasty lobsters?

I thought the month long cruise couple of years ago will inspire you. We're doing only one week flotilla. From AC to Block is only 180NM. What's another 7hrs cruse for ya, piece of cake.

Jonathan [or X],

Glad to have you as part of the Flotilla.
After Newport, I would consider stopping in Greenport. Not Riverhead...Not even sure why Riverhead was added??
