Is there one? I couldnt find one. Is this it? Please let me know who has a 460 and if your interested in sharing thoughts, ideas, mods and experiences with your 460. Thanks
I too returned Monday after 18 days off the dock, loved every minute. I only had two issues and one complaint. My vent window just stopped working .
RUSS- What would be the obvious? Connections?Stuart, that's good to know about the ice maker, thanks. I can't imagine what's wrong with your couch but it's a simple mechanism, I assume you checked the obvious?
I too returned Monday after 18 days off the dock, loved every minute. I only had two issues and one complaint. My vent window just stopped working and I got really tired of having to go into the motor room to start and stop the genny. I have a starting issue from the panel that I have not fixed yet. I didn't think it was a big deal until about the tenth time. And my complaint is the 100 gallon water tank and how quickly it goes. It amazes me that the tank is so small. WE CARRY 35 EXTRA GALLONS OF WATER IN THE ER. All relatively minor in the scheme of things, overall she performed flawlessly although we only put 4 hours on the mains and 150 on the genny, staying on a mooring in Block Island then to New London CT for sailfest and tall ships.
James- Great info on the LED light bulbs. I think this switch is necessary in the near future.Graham, Russ,
I am in the process of converting to LED as well. I have found the MR11 bulbs seem to work well for the overhead Cantalupi "David" fixtures in the front and aft cabins. Did you find the same? I used 18 LED G4 bulbs in the two aft head fixtures and the forward shower. Seems to work well. Used 10 LED disc G4 in the salon and cockpit "spoiler". Festoons were used in the cockpit floor fixtures and these seem to really cut the power draw.
Also Stuart was having issues with the icemaker. Mine cycles and works fine (it is defrosted and dried out weekly) but it leaks down the inside back of the tray. After a couple of days there is a considerable ice dam created around the try. Any suggestions to stop the leak? I have had it apart once but may have to play with this again.
Enjoy your boating!
James

Actually this weekend I checked it out and found that at the switch I was only getting about 8 volts at the 12 v feed. When I put 12v to it it worked fine. So I'm not sure why the voltage drop but I ran 12 v to it and it's working, not the best solution but I have no idea where the source is. Thanks for the input.Russ, I have run into this issue too. Lightly tap on the vent window motor with the back of screw driver or small hammer. The window has a tendency to stop working if the window is open all the way sometimes. I am betting this is your problem too, I have seen it on two of my friends 460's.
Yes, connections, obstructions, lube and look at the motor mount- is it solid? Or is it twisting?RUSS- What would be the obvious? Connections?
I agree with the water situation and have resorted to carrying an extra 30gallons in the ER in heavy plastic jugs. The admiral likes her shower in the morning....
Keep us posted if you will on your davit solution, I am very interested. I'm thinking about Nautly Davits until I can afford the platform.James- Great info on the LED light bulbs. I think this switch is necessary in the near future.
As far as the ice maker goes, I, too, get a small build-up of ice in the back of the plastic container after a few days. My theory is A) when the gennie is off, the ice in the tray melts and the movement of the boat splashes it down the back of the box. B) the fill line for the tray is set too high. When I had the manual out I read that this could be adjusted. It has not bothered me enough to worry about.
Russ- I'm needing a Dinghy soon. We have a dog and she is 10 and needing to "go" more frequently. I'm looking at 11.5'-12.5' dinghys and since I have the fixed platform will be having a custom mount made using weaver "shoes" and starboard horizontal mounts. I may end up fabbing an electric winch in the stern locker to assist in bringing the dinghy up the 24" to the swim platform. Care to share your thoughts?
Smooth waters...
I thought I was the only one! That drives me crazy!! Pulling it down, tucking it in works? Sounds too simple but I will try anything. My wife bought custom sheets, $300-400?, and they still pop off at the top.Ok, admittedly, this may be a bit of a stretch on application, but you may be having the same problems I have been having with my v-berth. Since I am the captain, first mate, crew, cook and bartender there is one position I also hold-Cleaning crew! Every time my wife and I sleep in the v-berth the sheets tend to come off the bed near the head of the bed. This past weekend I found a solution I thought I would share- I pulled the entire mattress down the bed frame about 2' and then secured the sheet and bed pad before sliding the bed back into position and tucking the rest of the sheets down. Granted i have owned the boat over a year now and just figured this annoying trick out! Hope you all sleep well! No reason for sheets loose now!
Try it Russ! It worked for me two nights this Past weekend without coming undone!I thought I was the only one! That drives me crazy!! Pulling it down, tucking it in works? Sounds too simple but I will try anything. My wife bought custom sheets, $300-400?, and they still pop off at the top.
Well why didn't you say so?! I'll start the search and the divorce filingI put a 2" Memory Foam on top of the mattress. Then the mattresses (with sheets on them) have to be jammed under the front header; keeps the sheets from slipping so much. More comfort and the sheets only have to be re-adjusted every fourth or fifth sleep. Certainly not the perfect set-up but it is better.
Another solution to the problem is to change boats. 540DA and 550DA have the master mid stateroom with a walkaround berth.
