I am trying to see if any newer ('09 or '10) 290/300 sundecks have a drain hole in the "storage compartment" under the port bow seat (storage area is covered in carpet)? After a good rain storm that area filled with water - and no way to drain other than manually pump out and let dry ...

was the cushion left open? How did the storage compartment fill w/ water?

have a new 290 sundeck and I have not seen a drain in this. I also don't recall there being drains on my 240 sundeck. With the seats in place I never had any major amounts of water in this compartment.

Thanks - I figured as much. Cushion was closed - maybe overnight rain, maybe kids playing with fresh water wash down, not sure. Was never an issue last year - but once it gets wet - it takes a long time to dry :) ...

I have a 290SD and just today was out with a mechanic and asked the same question. We located the drain (on the inside, side wall of the compartment), but the hole is too high to drain all of the water. We are going to work on a retrofit or new hole to get the water to the bilge.

Where does this drain? Into the bow floor locker, head or midship locker?

I just found the same problem after we were washed out by a big wave.... found it hard to beleive so much water would have found its way into this storage area...
Glad I noticed or all my gear would have been swimming for a while...

Thanks

Let me know what you end up doing and where it drains - continues to happen to me and looking for a solution. Thanks.

yes, to drill an additional hole, lower down in the compartment
Did you Drill the hole - if so - where? I also learned that when the water gets to a certain level in the front bilge compartment it "flows over" the "stringer" and into the locker compartment area. SR modified this so water could not flow from the center bow compartment into the side.
