What the purpose of this is?? It is located at the lower rear just above the water line. I ask because the one on theother side is missing.. There is a 1.5" hole behind it with what looks like a wooden plug in it?? Can this be filled in or does it have a purpose. Sorry this is my first searay and my other boat did not have anything like this.
Thanks in advance

Would help to know what year. However, I've never seen anything from the factory like that. But, then, I haven't seen everything... yet!

Could be, like you mentioned, just a plug. Who knows what the previous owner had there. Did you ask the previous owner?

Is there anything on the other side of the boat?

Is there anything connected to it on the inside?

I've seen something similar on older Sea Ray's. It is an exhaust port on the older inboard boats with another port underneath the boat for the water/exhaust. The exhaust is split between the two exit points through a large resonator in the engine compartment. This setup gives it a very distinctive sound (like the engine is about 6' from the exhaust outlet) - very deep and powerful. :smt001

Check in the engine room and see where the exhaust tubes go...

More info on your boat would help.

Its a scupper cover. It was used on the 1987 S24s and some very early 1988s.There should be a hose connected to it that goes to a floor drain,as the S24s and 230ccs had self bailing cockpits.

So, you have (or used to have) a self-bailing cockpit? I'd wouldn't even think twice about converting it back to that. Why trust a pump when you can let gravity do the work for you, you know? How high above the "scupper" is the floor drain?
