This is a problem/phenomenon that I really don't understand. Boats have Hull Identification Numbers. Some have State Registration Numbers. How or why cannot they go after these people to stick them with the bill to remove these hulks? If it was my boat, someone would be knocking on my door before it quit raining after the storm to inform me I have a hot minute to get my sh$t out of someone's yard. It truly baffles me.

When my parents got flooded. The neighbor's house was in their yard. We asked when they were going to clean it up. They said they were not going to and it's our problem. I started taking stuff up to their front yard one tractor bucket at a time and told him the rest will be coming soon in dump trucks. They got someone there to clean it up. Not sure why some people think they are not responsible for their s*** when they are done with it.?

All over the damn place! There are so many floating hobo encampments.

One of the houses we looked at when we were shopping just recently resold for over $1.3 million and there are three ratty sailboats anchored in the Cove 75 yards off the dock with vagrants living in them

This was 2011. There were 2 1/2 houses piled up. The others cleaned their stuff up quickly.

On my pier alone, we have 3 active boaters including me, 2 live aboards, 9 derelict/abandoned. Ive asked the owner casually, wassup. He said he can’t legally remove without going thru multiple court proceedings involving a lot of lawyers expenses.
Since nobody is knocking on his door for slips (remember my posts about cheap slips here due to an over abundance) it’s not worth his expense to remove them as long as they ain’t sunk.
Won't it be cheaper now to put them on dry than before they sink?

On the flip side, there is a 390 MY at my marina. It's in beautiful shape. Every year it gets hauled for the winter, shrink wrapped, bottom painted, zincs etc.

It's at the end of the slips next to the channel so I pass it every time I go out.

I've never seen anyone on it, and I've never seen it go out.

I was talking to the GM, and he said he's never seen it go out in the almost 20 years it's been docked. Apparently it's a floating condo for someone who travels here on occasion for business.

I've always wanted a 390/400 MY and this year it came up for sale. But I had to pass knowing it just sits all season

Perhaps it is in a neighborhood of law abiding citizens and they bring their complaints to the local authorities and are patiently waiting for the government to act.
In other news, that 48 is beautiful.
