I thought I would get this thread going now so we can settle on some dates, decide on the Marina, etc. This of course assumes that the Obama people will still allow powerboats after the election. We may all be American expats living in the Bahamas next year.

Preferences on the Marina?

Is a weekend in June right after school gets out better for most folks than a weekend later in the summer?

Eisenhower, during WW II, remarked that plans are useless, but planning is everything. Let's start planning.

June works better than July for us, and the week long trip up/down the Bay was also a winner.

Anyone have an idea when the construction will be done by the BiH East? That was a pretty good location for eats. It also seemed quieter at night than BiH. Lastly, the pavillion worked out great.

Or maybe something down at Fells Point? Plenty of time to decide.

Of course my preference is my home marina, Baltimore Inner Harbor Marine Center, the site of the BIH '07 gathering. I'm confident we can set up tables for a 'private' area up by the marina office or reserve the upper outside area of the Rusty Scupper restaurant for an evening. As to other restaurants, etc., Inner Harbor East has a number of fine establishments nearby, no question. Everything is walkable or reached easily via water taxi.

Stan, how early is "too early" to line up your Marina and start making individual boat reservations?
On a serious note, is it true that if we mention your name we all get a free boat detail and 100 gallons of complimentary diesel?
Cool!

I vote for Inner Harbor East Marina where BIH 08 was as there's great restaurants (Roy's and Charlestons!) & shops (Handbags in the City, South Moon Under, Chocolate Shop, etc.) nearby.

Baltimre Inner Harbor Marine Center is a nice marina but it has been my experience that its pretty hard to get a cab (unless you call ahead and wait) and I am not sure if they'll be able to put everybody in slips close to each other as in the past they've had less transient slips available?

Maybe somebody should call both marinas and see what they are willing to do for us as I think ClubSeaRay has proven it will bring a large croud! Can't hurt to ask for $1.75/foot dockage

Also, this is actually a lot of fun and very educational - would be fun to do as a group (for both kids and adults): http://www.baltimoreducks.com/

Don't forget Fogo De Chao. We are good for weekends in June. Kudos for the head start to planning...

Either Marina works for us-heck, we can alternate: odd years Inner Harbor Marine Center, even years Inner Harbor East, so if we get rowdy and piss off one Marina, we can take a year off before going back.

27-28 June, either Marina, so long as there is designated parking for Gary's minivan.

Ryan-I know that those MANs have some s-e-r-i-o-u-s torque--how about you meet me at Point Lookout, and tow Truly Blessed II the 110 or so miles up to BIH behind Sea:/Drive? President Obama will applaud our conservation of diesel fuel!

I guess we will need a poll to vote for the Marina.

I hear Obama is going to tell us all to boat with 1/8 tank of fuel or less to decrease our water resistance through the water thus improving fuel efficiency...so you might have to alternate & tow Ryan when he runs out of fuel. But I suppose this is still a fuel savings and Obama will be proud (or at least until he realizes Ryan had to boat way out of his way, burning more fuel, to tow you in the first place) :smt043

Any dates are good for me. Nice job on the early coordination. My only requirement is that there be plenty of space for my new 60 DA. Then again, if I don't win the lottery by then as planned, I won't have a new 60 DA and I will still be in my 340, in which case just about anyplace with cold beer can work.

We enjoyed the Inner Harbor East, too. Will the construction be complete (or will the marina at least have more permanent facilities) by then? IIRC they were not supposed to be done until mid- to late summer 2009?

We had a great time this year and are definitely interested in '09. I'll have to check out those dates, though.

....and if they'll let a 260 in, they'll let anyone in....

I'd love to lube up the trailer, head that way and raft off of you. Sounds like a blast.

We're probably in. The boss had fun this year. I just have to talk her into the short Ocean passage and Delaware crossing.

Just don't put us next to Ryan or any of those big guys. My poor little boat, Just Ducky, might start having feelings of inadequacy.

Best regards,
Frank
But, That's because you don't have any balls......red or green.

I'd love to meet all of you guys, but If we come we'd have to fly in and maybe stay with the Admiral's step sister. She lives somewhere in Baltimore.

Tim, When ImpulseIII sails off into the sunset, a tree house boat will not be far behind!

So far as location for the '09 event, we're open to anything. Can't tell you how much we missed the '08 event. Not to mention that the engagement we went to Florida for (which caused us to miss BIH '08) has been called off !!!!! Freaking kids !!!!

One of life's lemons, I guess.

Thanks Frank. That would be a blast.

Eww! What are you going to do to that trailer? NO! Wait! On second thought, I don't wanna know!

I have balls. I just don't display them. But if you must see them... look now!
Nice...:wow:

or Impulse IV? Or maybe Impulse III.V?
Unless Frank gets called to an emergency engagement party (part two) again.
I like the IV Idea. Or you can call the next Boat'

Broken Engagement
