Many Boating forums are struggling and are hardly a shadow of their former selves. It is great Jim keeps this going, but when it no longer monetize itself the plug will be pulled on all this information.
The lifeblood of the forum are people who are willing to hang around and answer questions for people that need help, it’s that simple. When people are no longer willing to do that the access to answers dries up.
Maybe some people here like to hang out and wait just so they can answer a question about somebody’s vacuflush toilet. Others, like to banter and BS, just as they would at their dock, with others hanging out in between answering questions and helping other boaters.
Recently we had a vaccine thread that had over 3000 posts and 50,000 views. It was not a political post, any more than the government participation in the pandemic is. Some were not happy and complained until it was moved to the holding tank where threads are sent to die. The thread was participated in by many active members.
Yes there were references to the various presidents and the actions they had taken but how can you have a rational discussion about gas prices without recognizing the changes that Biden made after he was inaugurated. You can’t! That still does not make the thread political to discuss gas prices and what needs to be done to lower them.
So to those who complained to move the most active thread of banter we had and moved it to the holding tank to die please understand that just furthers the death of forums, because everybody is just waiting to answer another question about how to change duckbills.
