Your friend should go to a salesman in the the NY store that will service his boat. The MM system is such that he becomes a customer of that store and can get serviceif he approaches it that way. The NY salesman then will communicate with the Clearwater store manager and put the buyer together with him. The NY salesman will stay involved but the Clearwater store will sell the boat and pay the NY salesman his commission.

Let me know if having NY service isn't important to the buyer and I'll put your friend together with the manager of the Ft.Meyers MM store, who is a good friend......this guy won't let 2000 miles and not owning the boat keep him from selling one.

I was looking at that boat. It did not have a live well and a fish box, so I moved on.

I haven't seen it in person, though.

I hope to be over there next week looking at , uh, um......., some posters, yeah, yeah, new posters they got in.

If it's accessible, I can take a look. Knowing next to nothing, about all I can tell you is if it's purty or not.

When I called about it, they said it was real clean.

Frank,
He has been talking to the dealer about the boat for over week. They emailed him 3 very lame pictures. But they did say ..The Boat was very clean. HAs about 600 hrs. Checked the warrty back ground and it had very few issues all minor..

Just figured someone outthere might be near the place and we could get a real opinion ,,,, silly to fly down for a bad boat.

Ylwjacket.
If u dont mind just sniffing around would be appreciated.

SS3/mm in Lindenhurst has 2 EC's with bait wells.... Or they did a few weeks ago... If u want the stock # 's ill get em for u .. both boats on the website... Lindenhurst location

I've changed course a little from the 410EC - it's not really different enough from what I have to make the jump worthwhile.

Is he looking at the '03?

I'm not 100% sure I'll be over there next week, but I'm hoping to have a reason to get over there.

If I do, I'll check it out. I'll keep you posted.

Robski, I cruised over to WI this summer and the Colony Marine Captain was running this boat. As you know I had a 41EC so I'm partial-but this one with the hardtop is very nice w/the 6cta's. I told my wife that I wanted to buy it and she said we can't run two boats at the same time! too bad-sounds like fun to me! Seriously, just have your buddy e-mail my salesman; dwaldeck@colonymarine.com if he wants....mention my name-just don't tell him where I'm at!

what kind of boat is he trading in? i hate to say, but around here, MM sort of controls the used Sea Ray market, and they price to sell.

that said, if the trade is not exactly a high-demand model, it may not be worth it to come all the way down here for it.

some others may know better, but i think particular store is sort of like carmax - they mark their 'value price', nad they don't move too far away from it. they may do some things in the way of services or add-ons, but not much in the way of price.

Rob,

Your guy should get a broker who is a yachtworld paid subscriber to look up the reported sales prices of any similar boats sold within the last 45 days (no more than that because current market conditions make older sales not comparable)....that data is not available unless you are a member broker. That will get you somewhere in the ball park.

The truth of the matter, however, is that at this level of boating, the condition of the boat, hours, service history, local demand where the boat is sold, and the dealer's financial situation all are more meaningful in figuring what the boat can be purchased for.

Each Marine Max store "owns" its inventory and the local manager makes the valuation and pricing decisions on trade-in's and sales prices respectively. If this is the only 40+ft DA or EC in the area, it will be higher than a MM store that has 2-3 similar boats. I've been involved in 3 boat deals since August with MM stores in 3 locations and all have been more negotiable than I thought possible and all were quite eager to work with the buyer on repairs, add ons and thrown in services.

If your guy is phone shopping direct to the Clearwater store, my guess is that he has not convinced them that he is a serious boat buyer yet.....and he probably won't until he writes a deposit check.

As far eating the cost to ship the boat from Florida to NY is concerned, y'all just need to get past that one. No dealer needs to sell a boat that bad. If the buyer won't run the boat there on her own bottom, then he should be prepared to handle the shipping cost.

Hope that helps.............

Frank,
Helps alot thank you. He is dealing with the local marine max in NY... EC's clean ones are few and far between. Looks like alot of them were set up for fishing and have bait wells .

He has bought a few boats from ss3 . this is his first marine max and the learning curve is pretty tall.... The olda days are over he just needs to adapt... ss3 was a family bussiness... When marine max purchased them ... all it got shaken up

The trade is a 03 34 dancer.... aprox 300 hrs...

I think frank will get a kick out of this ...

So my friend that was looking at the 410 EC.... Finally gets fed up with the slow pace of his NY based salesman and puts a call in to a vp at the dealership for some assistance....

To make a long story short ... 3 days of phone tag... they agree on pricing and shipping ( he still hasnt seen the boat which blows my mind ) he puts a deposit on the boat. a day later dealer calls boats sold....

So 2 months of Bull sh#! and nothing ....
