We got caught in that too! Glad you and the boat are ok. The weather forcast's are never right.

4-6' seas and 40mph winds and she handled it like a champ. I even managed to dock in these conditions with lightning striking. Teached me to keep a closer eye on the weather, but its nice to know that a 280da can handle bad weather so well.

Where are you guys when these weather systems roll through? Open water? Mike you typically are running around Manhattan aren't you?

We were lucky. We had enough time to safely anchor in the river and get the camper top up. (love that camper top)

I was in Greenwich and noticed that the wind was changing direction every 15 minutes. I thought to myself, that's not good. I turned on the VHF weather and they were giving times and location of a cell that was coming in. I thought I could make it back before it hit my marina, we were in the sound when it hit and I didn't have my glass up. my eyeballs are still stinging from the rain sandblasting my face. Visibility dropped to about 100' in about 10 seconds.

Whoa. We don't usually have those types of weather systems roll, through. If we do though we can see them coming, but normally never have Thunder/lightning. That XM weather module sounds like a good add to the GPS

Mike (TT) glad you have a story to tell and are not the story. You have got to love the 280 and its sea keeping abilities for a boat that size. We took ours down from Dahlgren VA to Point Look out MD about 45 miles one way to where the Potomac meets the bay. We did not have the storms you had, but on the way back the 3 to 4 footers and 20 knot winds made for a great ride. The bay and the river down there can get pretty mixed up and when we left the following seas where pretty intimidating.
