510 SunDancer pocket door

The pocket door between the starboard guest head and state room seems to be off the rollers, track is messed up, something. The parts manual as well as the SeaRay instillation drawing makes me think the boat was built around it. I can't find a panel through which to access the track and rollers.
Anybody got an idea?
Anybody ever run into this issue?

If it is like mine your assumption is correct. A lot of interior panels have to be removed first to gain easy access to the track. Inside head liner, trim on side panel , shelve, valance panel, panel inside closet.

Can you add a picture of the upper track with your phone? I think I can help you with this. I’ll do my best but I need a picture of the upper track and guides.

Love to add photos but it ain't my boat; least not yet. This is one of the sticking points. How much to fix. Just a pocket door and all but it's on a boat. Might have to disasimle the state room to get to the darned thing. I swapped out a refrigerator on a Sundancer and had to dismantle half the galley and entry way.

The drawing provided by SeaRay basically show a frame attached to the outside of the state room bulk head. Then the head is put in place. Now the grabber thing in the back part of the channel assembly is a mystery.

I'm really stumped as to how to fix this thing. It comes out, rattles around on the track. Think the broker and I finally got out 1/2 way befor giggling back into the stowed position. It's a two owner boat, the last owner having her for the last three plus years. He might not even know of the issue; well untill my surevey.

I'll try up loading the drawings and parts manual pages pretinate to the issue

I would make the purchase contingent on HIM fixing the door (as well as any other concerns that arise on the survey). This way cost won't be a concern to you & if they mess up part of the interior you can still walk.

Agree on all points. Just want to know what's going happen or at least have in idea of repair cost for alternate bargaining issues

Any chance you can find the same drawings/parts list for my 2001 410 Express pocket door roller? I've been looking for the part for two years with no success and can't find a part number.

Ok here is me trying to explain without pictures because I was too pissed to take them at the time when I worked on my 2001 460 midcabin pocket door.

The door is hung on a track and has spring loaded guide posts on the bottom. These guide posts are very similar to Unicorn Farts. You know they exist because you have smelled one but you’ve yet to capture it or find a part number. The part can be had by Frank Webster’s part guru at Treasure Island Marine in Panama City Fl.

The hanging part looks complicated but all you need is a thin metric wrench to loosen the 2 Jam nuts. You can’t have some el cheapo Home Depot wrench. You need a proper tool from a reputable manufacturer.

You will do it in this order...

1. Figure out which door has to come off first. If you do it backwards you will have to reinstall it and deal with your wife’s 9 questions and comments about why you didn’t do it right the first time so take your time on this.

2. You will need to remove the door from the bottom track first and then lay a towel in the track so you don’t accidentally clip the bottom back into place. Most likely you will break some of the aforementioned unicorn farts and have to call the only person in the country who know these things really exist so...take your time and yes you must have these guide pins.

3. Locate the 2 threaded studs on the top of the door that must be removed first and loosen the jam nuts after you go to 6 places then finally buy a cheap wrench and grind it down so it fits all the while cussing Searay and finally realizing it’s actually a damn good design because you haven’t had to mess with it in 20 years but your kids closet doors at home won’t last 90 days. Once you loosen the jam nuts you can remove the threaded stud from the “hanging nut” that is in the carrier. You will do this with your fingers while you instruct your wife to hold the door. She will wiggle it all over the room while smashing your fingers because she has to see what Betty posted on Facebook and it just can’t wait. Most like this will cause boat sex (I can explain if you’re a newbie).

4. You will have to get both nuts off and the door will come off the track. Once you find the nuts that fell into some deep crack or between the cushion then you will look at what you just did and understand the entire theory of hanging doors.

5. If you can actually accomplish all of this AND take pictures then please do because it would have caused a divorce in our boat!

First go on the SeaRay site, not the club, but the SeaRay factory site. Get to the manual pages and you should be able to find the parts manual for your boat. That will make life a little easier. Then call the SeaRay tech support at Merritt Island. (865)971-6415. Those guys were all part of the gang that bolted your machine together in the first place: engines, framing, what ever. Their archives of parts lists and technical drawings have helped me many times. They can also help you with manufactures contacts and the parts numbers of their suppliers. Most likely they will send you to Tike Isle (Jim Cox) 407-656-8885 for tracks, trucks and such. Least that's where they use to direct me for such things.

Great explanation. Yes the door removal and re-install has one or two tricky spots but generally it went very smoothly for me when I replaced the fridge last year. I found that the biggest challenge was securing that port-most slide on the floor track. But everything has access to it and Sea Ray did a good job on design when you consider some of the pounding our vessels take, compared to a closet door in your house. Or maybe not...

Our 450 has the sliding pocket door/wall for the aft stateroom and I couldn't get it to meet the other half (swinging door) for the life of me. I added brass push down keeper, so when I slide the door out at the top it has the phony screw that goes into the nylon keeper (whoever thought this was a good idea was an idiot) and on the bottom, I push down the brass locking keeper into a plate screwed to the floor. Once this is done the two pieces can act as a door & wall with a door jam.

I know I was being funny with my first post but if you are wanting to rebuild the companionway door it is different as it is a truck and track system of which all parts are available in flounder pounder.
