I purchased two gas-10 fuel Spencer's from BOE Marine and installed them today. I had to add about three feet of fuel line to both engines to get them in the right position. I dinnt install the supplied fuel filters because I was worried about restricting fuel supply by necking down the 1/2 fuel lines and adding the extra fuel line. Has anyone else installed these without the filters? The fuel flow seems fine so I am still considering installing the filters but would like someone me opinions.

That was a lot of good info. Wish I could have seen it before I started, I had all the same thoughts during the install. I searched the forum first but didn't come across your thread.

Thanks

I put them on my old boat and loved them.
I didn't use the filters that came with them because in addition to the spin one I had mounted on the motors I had Fram canister filters mounted just outside the fuel tanks and I used 10 Micron cartridges in them. When I called Garmin they told me that the GFS 10 Filters are 30 micron, so I was ok.
I never had a problem with them because if filtering.
Caution though: The only thing I didn't like about them is that they are plastic and I did have one spring a leak when it was a couple of years old and had to replace it. I was super careful to mount them where they wouldn't get stepped on or otherwise damaged, and I still don't know why it sprung a pinhole leak, but I always checked them whenever I had a reason to open the hatches and look in the bilge. That's how I caught the slight leak early.
